Hi guys.

Can I use OpenArena to connect to Quake III Arena servers to play? Or does it HAVE to be OpenArena specific servers? Thanks.

It is not possible.

before 0.7.7 it was possible to join a quake 3 server if it was unpure, had punkpuster disabled, auth disabled and did not use any of the official quake 3 maps (and 0.7.6 also required that it was running a mod). It was also possible for Quake 3 players to join Open Arena servers and here the auth disabled was automatically fulfilled.

From 0.7.7 OA started to use a different protocol number between incompatible versions. This has annoyed many defrag players as defrag was one of the few mods that fulfilled all the above requirements.
