I've noticed on a couple of 8.1 servers, that map rotation seems a bit problematic.

The map will end, and I seem to be stuck at the scoreboard screen. Sometimes the rotation will resume after a pause, and sometimes the map that was just played will resume with somewhere around 5 to 7 minutes on the clock already. Sometimes I have to do a /reconnect to get out of the final scoreboard screen.

Anyone know of what might cause this?
I've seen my server do it one time, but I see beer garden's server doing it consistently. People are having to /reconnect and vote new maps.

i used to get this too. I think increasing sv_timeout helps, you could also try increasing com_hunkmegs / com_zonemegs. I can't confirm what fixed it exactly as I tried a few things at the same time including changing the map sequence a bit. Also make sure you have a blank line or // EOF .. apparently the engine does not read the last line of a config correctly.

It used to happen frequently but now I dont get it at all so it's definately fixable. Smiley

The problem is simple. Some of the maps is mistyped and the server cant find it. When the maps names are correct there is no problem.

None of the mapnames were mistyped, but I did notice that the actual map file names in the pk3s of the ones the server seemed to be hanging up on had capital letters in them.
Another server I play on is doing it on the stock maps, but I have not seen the maplist or config, so I can't say on that one.

I've had that too. Sometimes the file name does not match the map name.. you could try /dir maps
.. then load each of them manually to be sure.

I go a step farther, and open the pk3s to see the actual name of the .bsp file....

Edit, /dir maps is great! Thanks for the tip... I took out the two that had capital letters, and so far so good.

I have had this happen when the map name in the rotation is not spelled correctly or the map has been removed from the base folder.

***EDIT***  Opps....sorry, this was already suggested.   DOH!!!
