Below is the output from a new server I am trying to setup on a fresh windows 2003 install. I think it is on the server side with how IP address is registered, but I am not sure. Any help would be very appreciated.

The server is brand new out of the box windows 2003. Where would I look on the server itself to check for ports being open or not? The firewall externally allows all ports from my network block (for dev).

in some cases you need to specify the net_port (usually if you set net_ip i think which you dont have)
try adding..
+set net_ip (your-ip) +set net_port (port)

So this server computer has two networking cards in it, one that connects to the local lan and one that connects to an internet modem?

Do the computer actually have that IP address?
What is the output of "ipconfig /all"?
A Google search shows that you are not alone with your problem but most of the time it appears to be the wrong IP address that is specified.

Maybe there will be different IPs with openarena-deprecated.exe or openarena-legacy.exe.
What about localhost, 0.0.0.0, etc.?

Thank you for the replies, we get this figured out and we are having a party on the server!
below is the ip config /all data. I have the port specified in the config file as well. it is attempting to connect to the correct port as shown in the output in my original post. Thanks again for the help!

Based on that output your server does only have a private IP. You should just bind to that (or 0.0.0.0) and have the port forwarded from a computer with an external IP.

Thank you for all of your help. IT'S WORKING!
The issue, my dumb fault, was not exec'ing the server.cfg file from the command line. Well, even if that isn't a good reason, doing that fixed teh problem. I removed the set net_ip and let teh game bind teh ip address itself. i have now closed all teh other ports and teh game is running: "CHTON 24/7 NEWBIES".
Ok, now that we have that out of the way, I'll post my config file below and you tell me based on best practices what shoudl be added/removed if you can. I'd be much obliged. Also, if you can, tell me teh ping you are getting (east coast). I will set up a west coast version if all goes well.
Finally, how do i get a different color displayed for my server name. I tried ^3, etc to no avail. Thx.
set sv_hostname "^7CHTHON (ce1m7) 24/7 ^3Newbies" set sv_maxclients 16 set g_forcerespawn 15 set rconpassword "xxx" // change it set fraglimit 30 set timelimit 20 set sv_allowDownload 1
// makes all maps loop on the server (last vstr is m1 to go at the beginning): set m1 "map ce1m7; set nextmap vstr m2" set m2 "map ce1m7; set nextmap vstr m1"
// begin game DM (deathmatch) // g_gametype - Gametype. 1 = DM, 2 = Tourney (1on1), 3 = Team DM, 4 = CTF. set g_gametype 2 //map aggressor vstr m1 seta bot_enable "1" seta bot_minplayers 3

On a 1on1 server you should not have bot_minplayers > 2 or you risk a human player waiting for a bot. (although I am not too sure on how Tourney handles bots)
