set up a server

HI! I have a problem.. i want to set up my own OA server (0.8.1)  so i have make a server.cfg  and a  server start up script.. i launch the server and i get this:

I think every thing is alright... but I dont see my server in the list in OA or on http://dpmaster.deathmask.net/?game=openarena&

I have wireless internet here.. i have set up my router for port forwarding: UDP 27960/27963
but still no server in the list... also no server in the local list...
can someone help me please?  thanks

1) Does your config file start some map ? With "vstr m1" for expl. It seems you try to start oasago2, so that may be fine.

2) Did you ensure your port forwarding is correctly set up and active ? You have to redirect to the right IP, and you may have to reboot your router so that changes take effect.

3) Also, which command do you use to start your server ? (do you use right parameters ?)

It seems fine, if you don't mind you may give us the IP of your server, so we can test if connection works.

I dont know what is the purpose of the "wait" command you have.

Do you use a firewall ?

You may also try to remove your custom .pk3 files, or start your server from a fresh install of OA (in another directory).

It might not update instantly. I think these are cached but updated reguarly.

Have you left your server running and waited for it to be updated?

I have never set up a local server but if I am running a web server or something I use port forwarding on my router to redirect port 80 to the local IP (I assume the game will be port 27960). Might need to have a look around the router options for this?

@Dinoruar,
I myself had some weird issues while trying to make accessible one of my servers today, but it was rather due to the script I used to start the server.
Maybe you shouldn't use a startup script, but try to start OA directly from command line, to have better control of what happens.
Also, add bots, it helps in checking that a map is loaded and that game is played, because you can see the log scrolling.
Finally, your server is known by dpmaster, because my XQF lists it ; however, it seems your port can't be reached. There is no or very few delay between the time your server is started and the time dpmaster would list it. As soon as you see :

Then you can check if your server is listed in dpmaster's list.

To explain some of these weird behaviours, I suspect some variables are not read correctly from config files and/or from command line. But you use a linux machine (so it limits weird behaviours ), so you can probably handle that by restarting your server in different ways (without using a script, and/or by passing net_port as a parameter, etc...)

As far as I know, only a single port should be forwarded (27960 or whichever you specify in the command line). Also, you need to forward UDP traffic to that port, not TCP.

All this stuff requires you to have a spare computer - is there a way I can use the extra space on my webhost? instead?

You can't run custom programs on a webhost, the only service it provides usually is some web space.
Some other hosting services let you do what you want through a shell account, so you can start up new programs, but most of the time you have to pay for them.
