I have an idea for fonts, menus, and HUD displays so that they are resolution independent:  Using SVG.  I know the QIII engine doesnt natively support them, but we could grab another GPL project and merge it in then have it export the fonts, hud stuff, icons, etc.  It would make this game 10x cleaner.

I would be willing to help get this started because I've always wanted to work on a game.  Let me know...

I'm not sure about that...
SVG support would be up to the engine itself which is out of openarena scope, and if it was implemented in a engine, using SVGs in openarena would break the compatibility for older engines.

Also I think there is no real need of SVGs.. the sprites look already good on almost all high resolutions, don't they?, and would not make that much of a difference at low resolutions.
