I know allot of ppl got some elite configs, here is mine based off of JessicaRA's.

I would like to optimize my fps, and would like some input, here are my system specs:
Pentium 4 Hyperthreaded 3.0ghz 2 gig ram, GeForce FX 5500 256 RAM Running OA within Ubuntu 8.10 with latest nvidia drivers, any config suggestions?
Logitech G7 Wireless Gaming Mouse, Just got this mouse, any suggested settings?

Some of the issues I am having is low fps in maps like oasago2 when allot of ppl are playing, I get fps around 21 which is almost impossible to aim at ppl strafe jumping.

I know  ppl that play OA/Q3 got worst systems than I do and get better fps, so what can I do to optimize it and have a half decent look?

I also have seen ppl switching weapons super fast, especially this one dude wSs)(foad 1 rail shot then quick switch back to previous weapon?

osago is notoriously bad for your fps in places. i get stable 125 dps on all other maps but on osago i have to switch to vertex lighting or my fps starts to drop to 100 in places.

Dont really know your mouse (or even what kind of setup you like.. high or low sens?). But im using a g5, they could be quite similar. I use the mouse accell from setpoint (on low) with the standard windows XP mouse accell disabled via a registry 'hack'. You can find how to do that on google if you wish. Then i use a medium sensitivity on OA: 6.5 atm, but i often lower my sens by .1 so its constantly going down (not long had this mouse so still asjusting). Go for the lowest possible sens you can handle. with a bit of mouseaccell you can go really low and still be able to move and turn quickly shoudl you need to. lower sens wil make you more accurate.

As for weapon switching - If you havent already, you should bind each weapon to a key close to your movement keys or to a spare mouse button. This means you can switch from shotgun straight to rail gun (for example) without having to scroll through all the others which wastes valueble time.

Works in windowed mode, will need some tweaking if you wish to play with it in fullscreen probably (r_intensity, r_gamma, r_overbrightbits, r_mapoverbrightbits). You will also probably want to change resolution (r_customwidth, r_customheight).

I use picmip alien hence the look... but I have a lot of other settings as well increasing visibility further (e.g. through water) and also increasing fps significantly.

I get 125 max but not steady, id like to improve fps if possible or is it shown in your cfg in this forum?

RudyRailer: half my config deals with fps settings, there arn't just 1 or 2 commands - hence I posted pretty much my entier config, try executing it and see if you get fps increase if you want.

Logan: it deals with how many duplicate packets your client can send to the server - if you have a good connection and don't get packet loss at all then set it to 0, but for most people I think 1 is the best setting.

I've always enjoyed minimalism.
Also got impressed by some CPMA/Warsow vids because of that kind of style ; It looks futuristic (so was Another World, even if made with 90's technology) ; enjoyed Wipeout too Wink

You might want to set r_simplemipmaps 1 - gives like 5 fps ;p
Then there is r ext compressedtextures 1 but picture becomes really ugly and you notice the jpg compression sorta (i set it at 0).

It flips your view round 180 degrees, aims down a bit and rj's... it's pretty useless really, you will get much more control aiming by yourself.
