I downloaded the Quake 3 demo, installed it and it works great.  I downloaded Open Arena, but when I try to play it (even on the menus) I get really bad mouse lag and frame rates.  Here are my specs:

Pentium 4 2.4 GHz
1144MB RAM
DirectX 9.0c
Intel 82845G Graphics controller
64 MB video memory

I've tried setting all my setting to the lowest possible - same problem.  Tried turning off OpenGL extensions - same problem.  What is going on?

Intel 82845G Graphics controller
EW i remember that thing, it sucks at high resolutions!

Things to try in the console:

r_flares 0                     (OA also has flares that work, Q3A does not)
r_fastSky 0                     (Some sky textures have a ludicrous amount of layers)
r_detailTextures 0           (Unlike Q3A, OA actually utilizes this setting for layers of detail patterns similar to Unreal)
r_bloom 0              (If you don't have a Geforce3/Radeon or better, you shouldn't use this.)

You could also play with r_primitives (0, 1 or 2 - higher settings will 'freeze')

No, vertex light hardly makes a fps difference.

Another thing could be software mode kicking in for some reason when it shouldn't.

asking when OA3 will be done won't get OA3 done.
Progress of OA3 currently occurs behind closed doors alone

I do not provide technical support either.

Try re-enabling it. It has been reported that OpenGL extensions in rare cases need to be re-enabled.

Sorry, should have tried updating my video drivers first - that fixed all my problems.  Thanks anyway for the help.
