When you back flip does the player see the flip in  their view or does it just show moving backwards and jumping

it's just an animation - the player's view does not flip.

Well I broke my ankle in 7 places so I got a 9inch zipper on my left foot I did that sk8ing on a dice bowl so I guess your correct ;p
