If sometime in the future OA adds normal maps and/or relief maps, the map could be rendered realtime with realtime reliefs and no lightmaps at all. More or less like doom 3 does.
unfortunately, this won't ever happen.

no it's not just that, it's that I intend to not screw over legitimately low-end machines (Pentium II w/ Voodoo). I'll break that rule for some other game

I have a 2G system over by the rack looking for something to do.

Informal file exchange between mappers here has been haphazard.  This might be an
opportunity to work out locations and process for cooperative work.

No pressure, though.  There are times in a project when more people is not better.

For the curious: the .bsp name is legodeck though the .pk3 name is legoland.
Mixed case in filenames may prevent joy for those oddballs who don't run Windows. :-(

Following up myself:

A little fiddling and I am seeing it in all its glory.  Its as ... *dazzling* ... as one
might expect from the screen shots. :-)

Actually, it's not bad at all.  Better visibility than in many gothic or tech maps
I've looked at.

If there's interest, I'll post the commands I used to overcome Unix's case sensitivity.

0kelvin - the .pk3 has a legodeck directory at top level that looks like it should be under maps.
At least when I moved it there a number of shader complaints went away.

Case - see 0kelvin's post just above.  He's updated the post and the .pk3.
fetch the updated .pk3, do the usual.  legodeck should appear in skirmish menu.

Don't worry about VIS. You've got decent r_speeds.
This map is quiet huge although I know the map it comes from I have difficulties to find my self around in the first seconds after respawn. Item placement seems good to me but it has to be tested. A lot more. Is this version to be placed on a testserver?

I left OA for a while so I didn't take care of ROFL Beta Maps server, but I added legodeck to map rotation (which is pretty big, so you'll have to vote for it)
Code:
/callvote map legodeck
I may do a bit of cleaning some day ... hard to keep track of all the 0.8.1+ maps .
