ok so ive installed version 0.8.1 the 64bit one off of getdeb. i am running linux mint 6, and i have installed Libopenal0 as the faq suggested but nothing. when i try to launch it from the GUI nothing happens.

also i have my nvidia drivers installed, and i know 3d works cause i can use compiz, and cedega

thanks! the game looks awesome, i just really want to be able to play.

Try launching it from the command line to see if it gives a clue.

Right click on your OA shortcut, and see the target. It will tell you where the binary (which is run to start the game) is.

Otherwise, start a terminal, type "opena" and hit tab several times, it may work Wink

The command could be /opt/openarena-0.8.1/openarena.i386, or something like that.

What does this command, in your terminal, gives :

Your OpenGL seems fine.

Maybe you need some SDL libraries.
On gentoo I only have libsdl installed, I don't remember the package name for Debian, but check if you have it.

With synaptic, make a search with SDL or LIBSDL Wink

try to disable compiz before launching the game. i think there's been some clashes there before. not sure if this error message points to that though.

installed ubuntu 9.04 64bit - manually installed the 180 Nvidia drivers. all is working! Cheesy

its a pritty cool game!

I  had the same problem when i first tried playing this game, good thing my friend knows how to configure stuffs, dont know what he did though
