Hello everyone,

I am using NetRadiant 1.5.0 on Win XP SP3 for creating a new map. I was trying to use the 'caulk' texture for the walls but was unable to find that texture in the texture list.

To get the texture list, I unpacked the pak0.pk3 (which I assumed is from where we should start - using the GPL'd textures in it). I can see various textures but I was not able to find any 'caulk' texture in that list. On the web, 'caulk' is shown generally in textures/common but there is no 'common' folder in the pak0.pk3 archive. I only see the following textures in the Texture viewer (textures obtained from pak0.pk3 unpacked from oa 0.8.1):

detail/
effects/
oa/
oafx/

But nothing called 'common'.

I have configured the NetRadiant as per sago's post here on the OA forums.

On the net, I've seen the 'caulk' texture show up as pink with CAULK written on it. But I cannot see that texture anywhere in my texture list.

There is a button on the menu in NetRadiant which says 'Caulk' but when I click on it, it creates an icon inside the Texture viewer which says (inside the icon) 'Shader Not Found'.

Am I missing some files/textures? If so where do I get them?

Help! Smiley

caulk is not an texture it is a shader.

It is in pak0 scripts/common.shader

You should not unpack anything!

You should look in ~/.netradiant/1.5.0/oa.game/local.pref and make sure that <epair name="EnginePath">/path/to/openarena-0.8.1/</epair> is correct so that the game can find pak0.

Once it works it should show as a _blue_ texture with the name 'caulk' written on it.

EDIT:
It isn't ~/.netradiant in Windows... it is something else.

EDIT2: Can be set through: Edit->Preferences->Settings->Paths

Thanks sago! That fixed it. Apparently the path was wrong. I wiped out the extra 'baseoa' folder that had been created and now I see all the textures.

Thanks a lot!

BTW, is there a list of textures that need to be replaced that I can look at? I am thinking of reusing most of the GPL'd textures but I also want to create some myself. I want to know which one are needed (I believe that's why there will be no releases of OA till all textures are replaced with GPL'd textures). If I am creating textures, why not help OA in the process ? Smiley

Please let me know.

Once again, thnx Smiley

PS: Your Sago's Castle map is very well done - especially the strategic placement of flags Smiley - hidden from view - close yet so far lol

Maybe you'd like to check jackthompson's GPL flat replacement files for names...
