Hi again, so today it happened something strange that I never saw before (here goes the story Smiley ):

I was playing on Castuo server InstantGib, against a guy ^ViagraMan, the name color I already saw on other guys like Predator, Alien and The Terminator, I guess they are somekind of a clan or something.

Well, since he showed up on the match he was kicking my a#s, fortunately I had the bot Major on my team camping on the base so that he keept killing me but the score remained 2 - 0.

After a while, a bunch of people come into the server, and join in my team, so it was a 3 vs 1, and I gotta tell you that guy is way above average, someway I felt pretty pissed 'cause without Major the guy started to get the flag and killing us, and I started to wonder if maybe he wasn't cheating, never said anything just thinking, the game ended up at 8 - 2, I lost Sad

In the next map, that space map with a platform in the middle with MegaHealth (I suck at map names) for some reason everybody started to spectate the match exept me and him, and a METALICAA dude that played on my team started to say: Viagra Cheater, cheater Aimbot and stuff

So I spectated just to be sure, no demo this time, no need 'cause I guess it was pretty obvious he was playing fair, perfectly smooth moves seeing the target before shotting, and something that is rare on cheaters, good moving without mistakes. Anyway they kicked him. This bugs me a little, 'cause, if someday I start playing a little better I'm afraid people will just start making these acusations and I may end up being kicked.

His best option would to have enabled the Handicap option. With this feature it allows more expert players to face less experienced players & still have a challenge.

If I can remember it reduces starting health(and possibly max health) of the person who enabled it. I believe there is one or two other things it does(ammo?) but I can't remember.

On the whole. If you feel your walking over a player.. Then enable the handicap & choose the appropriate setting. It makes the game fun for both sides!

I agree nobody uses handicap, and I don't think its quite fair, I used it once just to see Smiley and it may look on the people spectating like an aimbot.

Well...once you become a better than average player, it is inevitable that someone will call you a cheater because you have played the game soo much and played against so many types of players..you can anticipate certain movements and your steadiness to aim will become near flawless. Even strafing and rocket jumping would be considered cheating. They'll say "how you move so fast? or how you jump so high?"...Normal players or beginners will think you are cheating since its brand new to them. I've air rocketed one player so many times in one match to the point where he thought i was using bot program and then he left.

The only thing you can do is just keep playing and let them spectate you so they know the truth - just as how you did. There are servers with advanced players that play among each other ( Nemesis, for example) and there are other servers that has beginners.  Dont worry about what other think about how u play, if you know you're not cheating..someone will say so for the most part.

Good luck!

Nobody uses handicap

Indeed. No one uses it at all. Especially with how strong Lightning gun is in the game. It really needs to be readjusted plus the length of it should be shortened as well. I hate that weapon. No real skill needed.

I don't know what it is, but the last year I've seen 2 or 3 players using aimbot, and today it were suddenly 5! I don't know if it were really different players or just different name, but it terrorised the instantgib servers all day.
It's a different program than I've seen before, a worse one. This one doesn't calculate with your movements and doesn't reach 100% accuracy, but still you can't play against it.
NoSkillz was one of the nicknames used. First he said I lied but after a while he even asked players if they also wanted the aimbot.

There should be something like '/callvote ban', but with 75% of the players voting yes instead of 50%+, and a minimum of 3 votes yes. Without the higher requirements normal players could get banned.
And when they're banned spectating mode is allowwed but no playing. Then they can ask who's admin or something and contact him if they disagree with ban.

So I spectated just to be sure, no demo this time, no need 'cause I guess it was pretty obvious he was playing fair, perfectly smooth moves seeing the target before shotting, and something that is rare on cheaters, good moving without mistakes. Anyway they kicked him.

good moving without mistakes doesn't mean anything ... I've referenced a youtube video on RN in which a guy was showing an aimbot on QL : in the comments he shuted up a guy that claimed his aimbot as obvious : he gave a detailed reply about how human-like could be an aimbot and also he wrote he was able to play many duels in QL without neither giving the suspect of cheating.

One thing that could help is detailed stats ( stats per weapon , percentage of letal attacks with RL - rocket skill ... ) as in OSP , CPMA , XBattle ... it's not necessary to see a 100 per cent of railgun accuracy , but if u see 30 per cent ( or a higher but strictly constant value ) quite at the end of every game ... maybe it could be much more than a suspect. And if u want to see how good could be a bot , u could spect a brainworks bot or a CPMA bot at different levels and see the bot varing their accuracy but mooving without making mistakes. Those bots can strafe , timing items like ra and mh ... In particular CPMA bots at a level higher than 86 have godlike RL , can avoid bad RG shots - that shots that "they know" to not hit - , aim faster after a teleport .... etc

One thing I do expecially in space map is deliberately fall in the void when I'm under attack ... if the player I suspect of cheating falls following me more than twice , "maybe" he has the "ability" to mantain target locked.

Or another trick is hiding around a corner while firing a rocket : once the target ( me ) is locked , the bot follows it and the rocket arrives quite directly in its face.

About airrockets : with practice u can have a high percentage of airockets placed expecially in overplayed maps or after playing a long game session .... but what u cannot do for sure is easily adapting your prediction capacity to many different jumpers/distance : not all the jumpers have all the same speed and other players are usual to RJ over them : if u see a player doing airrockets in quite all situations in a easy way as drinking water , it could be much more than a suspect.

Edit : Joki. made a little graphic explaining this in a post at RN -> http://rainbow.furver.se/index.php?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=1637

The only difference is about rocket speed which is actually 900ups

This bugs me a little, 'cause, if someday I start playing a little better I'm afraid people will just start making these acusations and I may end up being kicked.

I was accused many times to cheat too and also by "illustrious" players , but I don't care since I don't cheat : I don't need to talk or to explain anything because I know that I don't cheat.

I didn't like it either, especially when playing on oasago2 with low fps, some player can wait for you at the flag and when you come you're killed without any possibility Wink But I was thinking the same thing about the railgun... Now I don't know, maybe there should be a way to change damages and let this up to server admins.

That's an idea I like, but people should be able to mute him/her too, and it shouldn't take a slot (but a particular slot for banned people). I was also wishing there could also be slots for spectators : you can join a full server, see people playing, you can talk to them, and when someone is bored you take his/her place Wink

30 per cent
hmm 30 percent on instantgib is doable I think for me, so make it 50. Most aimbots get 70%+

edit: I found some stats from about a month ago, and my railgun accuracy was 34.62%, even without instantgib Smiley

That was funny! But, afterall, is there a way to be absolutely sure that somebody is a cheater?

Yes, when he can see things behind him which you can't hear. cg_fov is maximum 180, so when set to 360 he won't see more than 180. That way you would never be able to see things behind you which you can't hear, and so can't respond too.
Though it is different for small games like when there are few opponents (3 or less). You can estimate where the other player can be pretty easily, but even then you can't aim accurate in one shot so that way you could see if it's a cheater or not.

Note that this was for an standard aimbot, seeing through walls or lock aim at players are much much harder to detect.

cg_fov is maximum 180

The max fov is clamped to 160 degrees , not 180 ... only some kind of cheats ( those ones that come as hooks to the engine , with or without an injector ) can use a 180 or more fov.

I use handicap sometimes for lols! Tongue
It makes your max health a percentage of whatever you set it at. It also makes your damage a percentage of whatever you set it at.
For example, if you make your handicap 50, you will have half the base max health(50) and all your attacks will do half damage. The absolute max health and armor you have will be 100 each, and each will decrease until they reach 50. Whenever you respawn you ALWAYS have 25 health above your base max health. So if you set your handicap to 1, you will start with 26 health, and it will decrease until it reaches 1. When you pick up a mega or 5 health, it will go up to 2, right before decreasing back to 1.

Actually, at least in UrbanTerror, you can set the FOV to 110 or 120 degrees (if i remember right) using the built-in game menu.
But the point is you can also set your fov where you set the scope for the weapon, aka ZOOM (see urthack for this).

That means you are able to use the ZOOM fov and set it to a value that was not intended by the engine, like > 360 degrees or a negative value.
Actually, it was fun to discover that the game doesn't crash on fov outside [0,180/360], rather it kinda bends space in a weird way ,-))
