newbie question regarding game graphics

I did search the forums first, before asking the question, so forgive the newbie if it's a RTFM thing...

I have been able to figure out what all the things do that you can pick up, like the shining fist is "quad damage", etc.  However, I can't figure out what one icon is - a sort of "tree-topper" star thingy.  I pick it up, it displays on my screen where other goodies like "flight" show up, but nothing apparent is different.

Can anyone point me to a "list of game images / descriptions"?

I think you're talking about the "Personal Teleporter". (Image below).

To use it you must press the USE ITEM button, which I think is the ENTER key by default. (Check under Setup --> Controls --> Misc in the menu).

When you are low on health and need to escape battle the Personal Teleporter will transport you to somewhere else on the map. Also use it when you are falling to your death and you will be saved.
