I have created a server to use with my clan, (alPha). Every time i exec it, i run
Code:
/usr/games/openarena-server/ +set dedicated 2 +set net_port 27960 +exec server.cfg +map maprotation_ctf.cfg
for some reason, even though this looks right to me, nothing will load onto http://dpmaster.deathmask.net/?game=openarena and I can't find it, I also can't specify the /connect because I don't know the server address.

* You should remove that "/" at the end of "/usr/games/openarena-server".

* Are you sure you have some "vstr map_variable" at the end of your config file ? You may paste your config files.

* Can you paste the log file which appears when you start the server ?

* You should find some way to get your IP address too, eventually with a simple "wget some_webpage_telling_your_IP", it may help.

Alright, so I found out that I opened the ports in my router, but not my firewall (newb mistake).

It appears now http://dpmaster.deathmask.net/?game=openarena&server=67.175.214.51:27960, but I can't seem to connect to it from this computer.T
The server is running ubuntu server 9.10 upgraded from 9.04. This computer is connected through the internet from that server, and the server is running OA successfully now, personally, I can't see it on the game menu, and when I specify, it just counts and I stop when it gets to about 100. I don't see a connection string in the  server console when I try to connect to it.

Also, I have some bots from quake and, I know this is a recurring problem, but how do I get "error: weapon value......."

this is what I get when I keep refreshing and try to connect

Those bots should be converted to OA, unfortunately. :/

what??

That Q3 bots are not compatible with OA.

And for your problem , if the server is behind a NAT ( which seems to be your case ) you can't join with the public IP ( it happened just _ALWAYS_ so to me ) but you can connect to it with the local address.

if you would have viewed the link, that ws the server on the masterserver thingy, it now appears in the game menu as well, like I said, I disabled the firewall for port 27960 and it went through, please read newer posts before responding. The screenshot is of me from this PC connecting to the server. Other people can connect to it, just not me, this is bad, because I need to access rcon, this is my new problem

I'VE READ YOUR POST :

And I've tried to explain that you have to use the local address to connect to it because your server will not appear on your list and you will not be able to connect trough the public IP.

EDIT : to be absolutely clear ....

Your server is on dpmaster list , but IS NOT on the server's list of your client and if you try to connect from your local network with the public IP ( /connect 67.175.214.51:27960 ) YOU WILL BE NOT ABLE to connect.

YOU HAVE TO USE your local IP : for example if the server is running on a computer which local address is 192.168.1.5:27960, YOU HAVE TO connect to it with /connect 192.168.1.5:27960

About Q3 bots.... if you give me the botfiles or a link where I can download them, I'll do the conversion.

I got the same problem (only im running windows, but the problem is probably caused by the router). It helps to turn all web applications off (msn, utorrent, etc) and then run the server.
Also you could try buying a new router, if you find it worth the price (and then again you have a chance the router causes trouble)

edit: oh i see that the server is up now, should have checked first b4 posting. sry

Graion Dilach

I can't figure out which pk3 is the bot files, I think it was included in a map file, that I piggy-backed off of for the server, check http://oa-alphaclan.com/index.php?p=1_3_Downloads, this is now a problem, because as you see, I uploaded them in (alPha)Clan's public download list, so I don't want random voices messing with the gameplay we "helped" them with. Thanks for the conversions, send me the links at madghost@oa-alphaclan.com, (if you catch any other errors, just tell me and I'll fix those)

Falkland,

sorry about the snapping at you, I feel stupid now, I dug through my computer hardware and installed a new wireless card in this computer, so it is no longer connected to the server, however, the server can't afford anymore downtime, so I'll leave things this way. Wish I could have understood you sooner.

p.s. -- side questions, what are cakes and how do you get negative cakes!!??

The best way to see if there're bots with a map is checking if the pk3 archive (which is in fact a zip) has the following files:
- scripts/*.bot (All the .bot files inside of the scripts folder)
- botfiles/*.* (The entire botfiles folder)
