I have bin playing tremulous lately and they have nice training server
for beginners with all sort of challenges.

What if we make one map like  training center?

A CTF map with easy strafe pads in it,a wall for plasma
climb and so on. Not too big and not separate rooms.

Like one  open playground where peoples can play, teach, train, chat...
All in one map and not too far so you can see what is going on.

Make this any sense?  Smiley

Yes, some people thought about some kind of tutorial maps too, though you need someone to make them Wink

So you want a CTF/Defrag map?  This could work if you put teleporters to the training area in locations that would be out of the way.  Although I imagine people would grab the flag and teleport to hide even if you make it a one way teleport.  From what I understand you want 0ups_beta with a CTF room in it.  Seems like a neat idea, but you probably could never get a real CTF game going.

0ups_beta is too much. Something simple, like oa_bases 5 with strafe pads
on one side, and plasma climb, rocket jump and double rocket jump on other
side. And plasma only straight up. One room. No teleporters, except below
strafe pads. And strafe pads with space for one jump before, so no CJ needed.
Yes, he can use teleporter to the end of strafe pads, but defense can too.

Here is how I see it. A CTF map with training elements is for simplicity.
Imagine this - someone join now and here, a newbie and want to know how
can you run so fast. You can just call vote training map and show him how
this work on strafe pads, you are in ctf all the time. Or why cannot be 2 vs 2
in ctf, 5 spectators and 3 trying to learn rocket jump? Imagine football game.
Inside playground is a game and outside someone is running.

When I play with newbies I calibrate, how strong they are, I don't want
them to disconnect. Give them a chance to stop you.

Here is a quote from another forum

"let's don't talk like there are hundred thousands of nubz out there, because they are only a small bunch of people who are playing trem. and we should keep them to make the community stronger and more fun."

Could you also upload this somewhere else? Cause all I get from rapidshare is the 'no more download slots left for non-members' whining. I've been trying to get stuff off of rapidshare for the past week. I can't download anything and it's freaking annoying.

I'll upload it to my hosting, if the original poster agrees.

Thanks.

I've tried the map and it's great. I like how it makes you spawn at the start if you miss the ledges. Should be a nice way to train in jumping and rocket jumping.

Did you know that you cannot be killed by your own rocket?

Try it. Fire the rockets and teleport to other side, it's fun. You also see
how fast you run when at the end of left pads, it's exactly the rocket speed.

You can also fire the rocket and outspeed it.
