I know how to take a screenshot (/screenshot) but where are they saved too on vista? cuz there aint no applicationdata folder that i can find. and they are not in the baseoa folder. I know this isnt really the place to post this question but I had some pic I wanted to put up.  Grin

Have a look here:
C:\Users\YOURUSERNAME\AppData\Roaming\OpenArena\baseoa\screenshots

You should be able to get there also simply using this path: %appdata%\OpenArena\baseoa\screenshots

I also suggest you to use /screenshotjpeg instead of /screenshot... so you will take it in .jpg format instead of .tga and the files will be smaller (and more compatible with all kinds of applications).

I always had horrible drops:
57fps facing a flag

16fps facing mid + playermodels and some shooting action

Wonderful! Is it possible to have a cvar that completely disables textures in that way? I want it!  Smiley

Mainly, I'm joking... Anyway, if there were a way to try it, I think it could be funny, and I would try it. Very "old style"... Obviously, I suppose one should get more fps in that way (unlike r_grayscale, that strangely slows down a lot).

Do you mean "after a certain r_picmip value, depending on your hardware, you have no more speed profit"? Anyway, an exteme r_picmic 999 or similar might be cool (obviously just to have fun).

Too bad it only goes up to 10. Smiley

That screenshot is about as plain as it gets.

R_picmip maximum value isn't 16? :-/ Anyway, it is not even near to the magnific first 90's feel of the screenshots...

PS: do you know that with a second vid_restart your r_picmip, if >3, automatically returns to 3 (the maximum -lower- quality you can set from menu)?

Yes, you're right. It is 16, sorry.

Hmm. Is that meant to happen?

I think there is some prolem. If I enter the game, set \r_picmip 10, then type simply \r_picmip, it says "... is 0. latched: 10". So, i use \vid_restart, the texture quality lowers and if I type \r_picmip it says "...is 3. Default is 1" (anyway, quality seems inferior than really using 3). If I type \vid_restart again, visual quality becomes better, I suppose really at 3.
Warning: I must precise that I notice this behaviour looking at the visual effect of the "engine" of the rockets I shoot... I don't find great differences in the map textures, but I noticed this (since at high r_picmip values, there is something that seems a semi-transparent ball after your rockets, it is easy to recognize).

What? You killed someone with the gauntlet at distance? It remembers me of a bug that is present in Q3A, in Q36DM6. If you stay in a specific point, holding the gauntlet active, when someone passes in another specific point, you will hit him! I'm not sure, but it seems to me that the same happened also in "6++" map...

There's a trap in that map, you can trigger it and it will kill people in the middle of the lava squared room.

the trap is actually a counter trap. in that little room is a trap that shoot rockets and grenades all over the lava room but on the sides before the lava room are buttons that activate the trap that crushes the first person.

oh and those pics were not taken one right after the other. there was a space of a few secs when i turned, walked over to the button, pushed it, then returned to my original position and took another pic

@Thoushaltdie
Yes that is a crush kill. I never noticed it there.

And it is possible to do a teamkill with a crusher even if friendly fire is off. When I first activated the functionality teamkills wasn't possible but I found it a little too convenient that you could activate a trap, the trap would crush down on friends and foes and when it moved up again all your teammates was still alive. It didn't work as before so I changed it either. So teamprotection was removed and the TEAMMATE text added.

I have noticed that I get the "TEAMMATE" killed text when I do something that results in a teammate dying but not being killed by the direct damage of a shot, cuz friendlyfire is off. And even when awardpushing is off too.  Evil

Once in a while... the screen will flip a color component around in a screenshot (when taken on Voodoo2)

You don't see these colors ingame, but this may be a stupid SDL bug

it'll be faster... if your texture vram is 4kb.

Extreme picmip doesn't improve speed.

Right - anyone who has major fps problems ought to try instead:

/r_detailtextures 0

I'm not 100% sure what it does, but I noticed very little degradation in quality and I have a fairly good graphics card - or at least, it was amazing in 2005. Now its specs are pretty mediocre, but I still get a consistent 125 fps and can go up to 500 if I want to, but that makes me lag (which supposedly it shouldn't).

Anyway, what do you all make of this? Tongue

I found this kind of funny - Seems this "clan" popped up in the time between me checking servers for players and me going back onto this one. I swear no one had this tag earlier. Thing is, none of them are particularly good. Only two seem to know how to play the game, and none of them say a word. XD

Idk...I chuckled a bit at this, it's kind of funny after all - they grew about 3 times faster in 5 minutes than my clan has in 5 months!

they must be german, their names are variants and wordplays on the word "pig" dt. "Sau".

maybe they aim at being the worst-pinged clan? Wink
