This is just a short vid of clips from 3-4 games that I played one day last month. I havent been recording since as it seems like none of the US/Canada players I use to play with play very much anymore. All regular ctf gameplay is from Super,Ctf with 240 ping (200 ms higher than everyone else). :/ The rail only gameplay is from Oanage (60 ping)with the custom rctf settings. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5koQREMfqLwNot sure if I will actually start recording again. It would take me months to gather up good gameplay. I dont feel like any of these clips should make the final cut of a real montage.

Anyone have any ideas of how I can put my demos into a high resolution and not have to change all of my graphics/ gameplay settings? Are there any programs that I can open a demo file in?

I don't think there are.
But you could back up your config though, and then crank up all the graphics. Then save the modified one for when you want to make videos.

q3mme allow to open demos ^^ But it's quite hard to use for a beginner i fear.. Anyways you can get it : here Else if it's just graphic matter (i mean you are not looking for FX or camera effects) like chaoticsoldier said, just make 2configs and exec the right one

It really is also a pain as you have cant just fast forward and record the part of the video you actually want. You have to sift through the entire demo and cannot fast forward.

The only thing with recording a demo to an avi in OA is that I dont think I can go above my max monitor resolution. You can, I know there was a thread on q3mme forum which explained this in order to record some video in HD. And while I'm at it, there could be good news from the video creation side, there is a software, based upon ioq3 GPL sources, which primary intent is to replay and record Quake Live demos, though it should work with Quake3, it's named WolfcamQL. I tried it with OA but I wasn't able to make it work. Also my guess is it has limited features compared to q3mme, some QL thread will tell more about it. Its sources come within the zip.

Mmm not sure i understand this... with "going fast forward" you mean for example "going to the 5th min to record your good frags"? You can make this with /timescale x (where x > 1 )

I have made a madness/test video, with FX, q3mme,.. and more. I have do it in around 40 so YES the camera is laggy (made by hand and not with nice circle moves) and the FX have still some lights bug : that is why it's called test I put funny stuff in so even if the video is useless you can laught a bit

Video quality is quite good, effects are interesting (even if it shakes a bit much ... I thought these were synchronized with something, like "jumping" or "rocket exploding", lightning are nice additions, comes with q3mme ?) and music is coherent with it, hehe, N1

Naaah laggy cam is because i moved with mouse like a noob In place of making key points and nice curve to have smooth moves FX scripts come from a friend & no that don't come with q3mme Well was a test but because test are msotly boring i have put smth to get a smile watching it Anyways scripts were dedicated to q3 and there is some bug to fix (if you look sometimes rockets have strange orange line going from ground to sky ) Shaking stuff,... come from Ghosty aka Bioxide (thanks again to him by same way). I add also made a after effect intro test : here (much more serious) Now it's time to record and then make huge clan video :PP but heee that took time ^^ EDIT : and well i have to say i made the test video in 40 and drunk; after uploading that looked damn awesome to me But now that im sober.. well that is quite weird xDDD

It's very often like this with productions we just made, we're enthusiast but a bit disappointed the few days later Don't worry though, some are sober and didn't make as good as you (me ??) hehe. So your rocket lightning effect is a pk3 (or some q3mme script) ? Just so I know, I won't force you to share it otherwise we'd see it in every next OA video and that'd be boring Seems like you're preparing some good stuff, wish you to make it a success

Coz it's a friend work and he asked me to not share it.. Hmm, that's what I expected. Usually the more you're familiar with free softwares, the less you keep things for yourself, that's why I'd advise anyone to put some interest into OpenArena's development It's not yet so common for a game project to have its assets for free (as in speech). When producing content you just add one brick over the stuff which was given to you, though it's not a mentality people who do multimedia commonly have, but which you more frankly have when you're a developer and all your environement you daily use is "free" (i.e: linux and the rest).
