I tried one of the machine gun variants, I'm really just practicing.  If the guy who did the original sounds is here, no offense.  I do know I skip certain weapons because they don't sound as aggressive, lol.  I just assume they're not doing anything.
This is from machgf1b.wav from Open Arena, only using Csound.  Single shot and 10x/second.  I could have a go at the other variants, so not every shot sounds the same.
Should I be posting this here?

Also wondering how I would go about setting my copy up to play specific sounds, so's I can test things I come up with.  Do I just unzip the pak3 files, change, the wavs, and rezip them, or do I have to recompile the program?

you can just put them in a pk3 with the same directory structure and file name. that way you do don't have to bother recompressing the original pk3s
