Next question. My admin.dat is setup, I put my name in as the admin, but whenever I join my server it tells me that my name is taken by an admin and renames me to UnnamedPlayer. What am I missing here? Is there something I have to put in my local autoexec.cfg to identify me as an admin to the server?

Nope, it's probably because you entered the wrong GUID in your admin.dat.

Name yourself admin through rcon (i.e: /rcon !setlevel ... ), rather than by editing admin.dat. That way you won't have to enter the GUID manually.

Ok I have used the !setlevel command and it added me to the admin.dat with my GUID just fine. But for some reason, when I join, my GUID changes from the same pc. Why would it change? I run 2 servers from the same directory, would this affect the GUID? They should both use the same admin.dat file, correct? Something is fishy in Denmark... lol

Also, how can I add multiple GUID's if I use a laptop when I travel?

By default a different GUID will be used for all server but the same GUID will always be sent to the same server (providing the IP/port does not change). This is to protect a server from knowing your GUID on other servers.

There is a CVAR that decides if the server address should be used for rehashing the GUID.

when I make a admin.dat file I got this error:

ERROR: admin.dat, line 0: unexpected token "\buren121"

Can someone give me an example for making a admin.dat file?

http://code.google.com/p/oax/wiki/Admin_Enable

It has information about generating a basic file.

A notice that you should always backup your admin.dat file before editing it and that you should leave the guid attribute alone.
