I'm seeing just now 0.8.8 has been released…

You prepared the zip file on windows, right? Because the Mac (and, I presume, linux) binaries lost the executable bit. While on linux this isn't much of a problem (after all, if you use linux you're probably used to chmod) on mac it is: Mac users doesn't abitually use the terminal and even a command such as

Code:
chmod +x /path/to/OpenArena.app/Contents/MacOS/openarena.ub

will look odd to many.

Also, white there are two .app bundles in the archive? They seem to be different, the r28 is the last one i built, not sure about the other.

For now Mac users can either give the command i just wrote or redownload the application from my server and replace the one that's included in the package: http://www.jackoverfull.com/tmp/OAMac088r28.zip

An hotfix for 088 is planned, I think. Fromhell (who made the patch) and to NeonKnight (who made the "unified" download package) may be interested into knowing "how to" create the new zip in the correct way, working from Windows or Linux...

Mac is based on BSD.  It's far closer to Linux than to Windows.

Windows…No idea. On linux a
Code:
zip -9 -r openarena.zip openarea
should preserve the permissions (it does on OS X anyway, perhaps we could do a couple of tests?)

I have to chmod the mac too?
I see…The linux binaries does have the executable bit… Undecided

The one in my package was already exacutable…the permissions usually get lost when files are copied using windows. The binaries to chmod are oa_ded.ub and openarena.ub.

It happens with this download as well? I had to repack for the whole executable thing.
