Hey OA People!

i started to organize Beginners Tournaments in Warsow and it's a great way to have fun and to help people into the game. Its also really easy and i want to give some ideas to people who are willing to do this for OpenArena:

  • - A Tournament site is needed. Options: www.challonge.com    www.toornament.com    http://xfire.com
  • - Decide on a mappool. This depends heavily on the available servers. In Warsow we just use the stock warsow maps, in that way there are many available servers and we dont have our own servers but can play on servers provided by the whole community.
  • - I recommend going for the Swiss System (on challonge), the benefit being that each round is based on the results of the round before that. In this way the lower skilled players also have fun because they dont have to face the players on top of the league.
  • - Announce it on http://www.reddit.com/r/ArenaFPS/   and www.fpspulse.com   so that people from outside OA can join in.
  • - Decide whether the Tournament is a OneDay event or is running for a longer period of time. (OneDay Tournament is easier to maintain overview for the admin)

if any further help is wanted, you can reach me via IRC on #warsow (name is joemaro)
