There is a pretty interesting project going on: http://live.linux-gamers.net/?s=home

They use archELinux and nvidia and ati cards are configured on the fly.

Maybe they can include OA in one of their next releases?

This could probably be a good base for a OA-standalone livecd too!

Live CD's/DVD's suck for serious gaming unless you have more than 2G RAM.

i might have to do a warezish rip version of OA to fit on the CD-sized ones >_< heh.

OGG sounds would have to be automatically substituted and played however even when a .wav is requested and that's not currently possible right now (Darkplaces does that fine however)

asking when OA3 will be done won't get OA3 done.
Progress of OA3 currently occurs behind closed doors alone

I do not provide technical support either.

Nonsense, just use blackbox as the DE and dillo as the web browser and you've just saved over 200 Megs of space, plenty of room for the full version of OA.  Smiley

or you can use DamnSmallLinux. it's just 50MB and should be pretty easy to remaster.

basically anything with a small memory footprint, because you want that for the game Smiley

Also, you'll probably[1] have to forgo adding the fglrx and nvidia drivers to the CD/DVD unless you can get permission from AMD* and nVidia** to do so.

*If AMD keeps their word and opens their drivers the fglrx driver may not be an issue.

**
Quote from: nVidia License
2.1.1  Rights.  Customer may install and use one copy of the SOFTWARE
on a single computer, and except for making one back-up copy of
the Software, may not otherwise copy the SOFTWARE.

That pretty much forgoes redistributing the nvidia kernel driver without their permission, there is the nv driver which doesn't require that, but anyone with a 6100 and up (IIRC) will be SOL as X will not display properly, the nouveau driver doesn't support 3D yet.

[1] Granted if you host the CD/DVD in Cuba, Venezuela, China, or Singapore (or any country that doesn't give a rat's ass about US laws) you might be able to get away with it.
