Yesterday (July 13, 2007) I finally learned how to download and install maps for Open Arena. From what the other user said I doublechecked where I put the maps and everything is in order.

But I STILL only see the same 4 maps when I run Open Arena! These are fine maps, but now that I have all these others I'd like to know how to reach them, to explore them. I can't even tell whether they work!

What gives?

I'm in Tier One, according to the Open Arena screen. Is there a Tier Two? Who knows the answer to these obviously basic questions?

I've been playing Cube for many years now, but here in Ubuntu and Kubuntu Cube is no longer available, since it's DOS based.

1. Do you have the current version of oa (0.7.0) ?
2. in Singleplayer (where you see Tier One) you can skip to the other maps when you press the (big) arrow-Button on the right side of the mapshots.
to access the other tiers you need to win the first four maps (on the easiest level that shouldn't be a problem).
3. or you just make your own game:
In main menu click multiplayer -> choose server local -> click create
choose a map (you can skip to other maps with the small arrow buttons) -> next
add some bots if you want (just click on some of the "open"s) -> fight

4. if you want to play downloaded maps you often have to use the console to start them:
- pull down the console (press ^ on the keyboard)
- type "map <mapname>" (e.g. map fan) and the map should load
