Hey there everyone! I just wanted to say first off that this game is the shit.. I've managed to get my co-workers to join in and play some sweet LAN games after hours and it works great except on my machine..

We're all running Windows, and it works great for about 5-10 minutes at the most, then all of a sudden the game will just crash randomly and will bring up the usual Windows Error Report screen that lets you Send or Don't Send the Error report..

it doesn't give me any specific information about the crash other than the "Program ended unexpectedl"..

I'm running Windows XP Pro 32bit with 3gb of RAM, a 2ghz Xeon Processor, and a Nvidia Quadro FX 550 with the latest drivers from Nvidia.. i have reinstalled my soundcard driver as well.. Sigmatel High Def Audio..

I'm curious to see if there's anything I can try to get this working properly.. Thanks in advanced for any insight you can provide..

We need more information, what is the full error message?  What does your config look like?  Is it just your machine crashing?  If so what is different between your workstation and your co-workers?  Does your boss play?

It doesn't crash on my windows... Maybe try getting a whole new set of files to play from. You might have done something to one of them without knowing it

hell yes my boss plays! that's what makes this great.. their computers are slower and older than mine.. and it works like a charm! very strange.. the only major difference is that I have a much faster processor, more RAM, better video card, and a dual monitor setup..

I've disabled the secondary monitor to no avail, so I don't think that is the issue..

I've taken a screenshot of the error message which is attached to this message.. it is the default error message when any program crashes.. that is the only reason I wasn't too specific about it.. i checked the event viewer and of course there is no helpful information..

I ran a Memtest and my RAM checks out just fine as well.. hrmph!

thanks again for your time and help..

Damn windows for not providing a decent error message and kudos for fragging management!!

I know the game works on dual monitor systems (I use and develop on one) and have played the game across both monitors fine, granted this is on Debian's AMD64 port with a BFG 6800OC, slightly better than the Quadro series and slightly better than Windows.  Is something overheating?

I don't think anything is overheating that i'm aware of.. I have my computer running various programs all throughout the day like photoshop, illustrator, quickbooks and outlook, and I haven't had any general computer lockups or anything that might be a sign of overheating.. I think i'm going to run a filemon and see what happens when the program crashes.. I will be back to post the results!

interesting.. I'm going to try installing an SB Live card just for the hell of it and see where it takes me ;-)

this onboard stuff is probably what is causing it to break.. thanks for the input, i'll let you know how it works!

DAMNIT! Installed an SB Live card and disabled the onboard sound in the bios.. Soundcard works fine, and the damn thing still crashes with the same error.. man, i've just about exhausted my attempts in trying to fix it.. I have no programs running either while trying to play.. quite strange.. I deleted my config file as well and started from scratch with no luck.. it's possible that this game just isn't meant for my computer :~(

The only things I can suggest is to play around with your sound settings, enabling or disabling OpenAL may help... s_useOpenAL 0 or 1.
