Title: Problem accessing SVN
Post by: Gig on February 12, 2016, 02:41:31 AM
At least up to some months ago, it was possible to browse the SVN repository http://openarena.ws/svn with a web browser.
AFAIK, that simple access did not allow to track changes (maybe accessing using an SVN client software -e.g. TortoiseSVN?- was required for such features?), but however it was possible to browse the current folders of the svn and to get the files you needed. I used it a few times to take a look to a some .map source files to see how some things were done in some maps...

But today it does not work: trying to access it via a web browser results in the following error:
Quote
<D:error><C:error/><m:human-readable errcode="200019">
Could not open the requested SVN filesystem
</m:human-readable></D:error>
I haven't tried accessing it with a SVN client software.

Maybe the system has been upgraded to a system which works via SVN client only? Uhm... considering the error, it seems something different, like missing files/folders/permission/database or some kind of misconfiguration...
Fromhell, could you please take a look? Thank you.

PS: Time ago (years?), there was also this: http://www.mancubus.net/svn/openarena/, but it doesn't work, too (error 404). I have never known the relationship between the two repositories.

PPS: Wikia page about OA Subversion (SVN), which may need some update: (DO NOT LINK) h t t p s : / / openarena . wikia . com/wiki/Subversion

It's global. All hosted projects don't have a SVN right now, even odamex (http://odamex.net/svn/root) which is on a different domain.

I don't know which provider hosts the thing... Let's hope they will fix soon...

However, as a workaround, here you can find the version of a few days ago, on the Internet Archive:
https://web.archive.org/web/20160204043654/http://openarena.ws/svn/

UPDATE: link to map sources in svn in internet archive: https://web.archive.org/web/20090413030806/http://openarena.ws/svn/source/assets/maps/
It looks that is from a 2009 snapshot... quite old... :-(

I hope is a temporary issue.....

By the way, there's no backup of SVN in another place ?

:(

Well, there's a backup of it on my hard drive (and several DVDs)... and it's 5gb  :(

However there's still that source retrieval request thing I could handle for specific stuff in the meantime.  Dealing with getting the SVN up in a new place would mean postponing OA3 hardcore (which isn't something I want to do)

The most juicy sources contributors often use on OA are the map sources (which are relatively tiny - ~10mb).  No one ever really bothers with those huge .blend files or those .psd/.xcfs except for super ultra rare contributing artists.

I understand, and thank you for all your work with OA3 and all you do for us :) ;)

What about a MEGA.nz 's account (50 Gb for free) for the SVN backup ?

;)
