Title: There needs to be a "Model" button under Player
Post by: DeathByGuitar on February 01, 2007, 05:42:59 PM
So that people who aren't familiar with the original quake 3 know that you actually CAN change the model from something other than the default model.

SVN is what manages updates from a multitude of people. check here for a more detailed explanation: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Subversion_%28software%29

The svn can be found here: www.openarena.ws/svn

Or you can go to the main page of OpenArena and at the top just under the banner its says SVN.

You would usually use a program like wget to get all the files easily. :)

so is this basically a way of getting the latest updates outside of a official release? i could really use some help on this. i'm a pretty advanced computer user, but not a programmer or anything.

Maybe it could be a good idea to make a 0.61 release to fix that (and add some of those great maps currently finished) at some point before the 0.7 release?

Getting all the 10 models and porting all of the Quake1 maps could take some time, and I think that a earlier release would show that this proyect is a very active one

Or at the very least a security patch.

i agree. i'm all for a .61 or .65 release or something. too many people who use OA dont even know about the model button thingy, i stumbled upon it by accident. plus, the new maps are also great. to hell with nexuiz!

I know this may sound silly, but due to the delayed and popular reaction of the last release (12/2, noticed by 12/29 and late january) i'm heading towards the DO NOT LINK[/b]) h t t p s : / / openarena . wikia . com/wiki/Roadmap#0.7]0.7.0 release (http://([b). The main lead artist focus is currently on player characters and trust me, those are important for populated online games :P There's no deadline and it won't be "forever". The pace of cranking these out is already increasing.

but yeah, that buffer overflow bug from earlier is quite nasty.

I agree. Too many gargoyles and green men running around. I wish everyone had my custom models. :p

I'm working on a few models, but I've slowed down due to Exams.

The torture of exams! :(
