Title: Compiling the DarksPlaces Engine.
Post by: Wendell890 on May 15, 2010, 04:32:44 PM
I keep receiving an error about the engine not being able to find the folder for the game's content.
Can anyone enlighten me on how to fix this?
If I'm not posting about something related to OpenArena, tell me. I lost sight of OA for quite a while waiting to register.

Uhm, yeah. OpenArena uses the ioquake3 engine. But never mind, I guess fromhell will answer your question, she knows that engine too.

Darkplaces is a engine that by default relies on Quake data, but also supports other games made for it like Nexuiz. If it doesn't find any of these, it'll tell you your base is missing.

it's not a q3 engine, it will not work with q3's gamecode, though it does support all of its file formats, except for .roq

So if I place the Nexuiz data folder in the same place as the DarkPlaces engine, it'll work?

Seems yes since it's designed for it.
You could also get nexuiz normally, and you'll end up with the darkplaces engine anyway.

Yeah, I had the DarkPlaces engine sitting around on my computer, but no Nexuiz to back it up.

EDIT: Thanks guys for your help! It's now working.
