Hi! I've given a quick try to the new version of the mod.  :)
I suppose someone may appreciate its ability to change individual weapon damage.

However, in the quick test I've given, it seems that the use of the voodoo gun is a little impractical due to the fact it "covers" too much of the screen (especially while moving the mouse in a left and right range), making hard to aim at your opponent. Should maybe the "bullet" begin being shown after some meters from you, like other weapons do?
About the "bullet" disturbing your view, it's also almost impossible to see anything while running forward and firing with the flamethrower.

PS: in the readme, you incorrectly mentioned g_vspeed default as 0 instead of 600.

Jack, a question. I see in the readme that g_rlMissileVelocity default is 1000. But in baseoa, it seems the speed of a rocket is 900 ups (line 727 of current version of g_missile.c on official OAX repository (http://code.google.com/p/oax/): VectorScale( dir, 900, bolt->s.pos.trDelta ); -thanks Sago-).

Why this? I thought Calypso default values were designed to mimic baseoa behavior.

Do you mean that openarena did change the rocket speed from the one used in q3? This sounds strange...
Do you know where I can check the original q3 g_missile.c?

Quake Live changed some aspects of Q3 game play... AFAIK, in QL history, weapons behavior hs been "tuned" various times (with the aim of find better balancing, I guess). E.G. in QL a railgun hit makes 80 damage, while in Q3 and OA it does 100.
I don't know if they also tweaked its maximum range... IIRC in Q3/OA the railgun range is a little more than 8000 units, something like 8 or 16 times less than the maximum range of the machinegun... that QL wiki says "infinite" for both, but probably it's just an approximation...

By the way, it's called "Quake Live", not "Quake 3 Live"... while clearly being "son" of Q3, they are not tied to follow Q3 gameplay...

PS: It may be interesting to have a detailed list of all the changes in the gameplay made by Quake Live (e.g. I think they introduced cylindric hitboxes) and have someone creating a "QL-like" mod that would allow to use those gameplay also in OA. It's just an idea for a mod... such changes are not adapt for baseoa...

Jackash, I think you should mention in the mod's readme that some of its default values (most notably, weapons speed and damage) mimic Quake Live instead of OpenArena.

By the way, it may be a nice idea to write an introductive test in the readme, briefly explaining the mod's purpose.  :)

PS: are you sure these commands have to be in?
Quote
gift <username> <item>
Gives a player an item as if they called the give command on themselves.

bless <username>
Toggles godmode to player.

lie <username> <text>
Makes a player appear to say a string of text in the chat console.
They sound quite prone to abuse: an evil server owner may cause a player get a bad reputation by making him pass as a cheater or lamer, while he's not. I have not tried those commands, I don't know if they work in devmap mode only or always... or if the console informs all players about the admin's "gift" or "bless" to someone.

Perhaps you could make rocket behavior more like Q3? (no parachutes on them)

The best part about whois, is that you can see their ip address.

worst part IMO.  This can be seriously griefed.  There's a reason why most games don't allow this.

HI Jackash!
I wanted to check if that whois command is a thing that any player can use, or only the server admin (in other words, if it's a server-side, client-side, or both-sides command).
But the download link is not valid anymore. Do you have an updated link?

Bye!

I just tried it. It is not the classic "whois" infos (it does not tell you about who registered the IP address, but the IP address only).
It also shows various match/player-related infos (team, rank, score, deaths, impressives, excellents, etc). That would be not bad, but however the fact of showing the IP address to other players (and not only to server admin) is a potential privacy issue.
