Title: Inspiration thread Post by: fromhell on September 10, 2017, 07:22:28 PM Dunno why i'm making this thread (*cough*too much gothic*cough*) but a sense of direction is always nice.
not much links atm, will fill in with more Brushwork/Theme inspiration: https://twitter.com/dot_bsp/status/881905121822736384 https://lvlworld.com/media/id:1946 https://lvlworld.com/review/id:801 https://lvlworld.com/review/id:613 https://twitter.com/dot_bsp/status/894226309030850560 https://twitter.com/dot_bsp/status/818487245648920576 https://twitter.com/dot_bsp/status/793482483278819328 (floater) OA3 techart aesthetic inspiration: https://www.mobygames.com/game/phantasy-star-online/promo https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/252918620173238272/300092077281116162/organic.jpg https://cdn.discordapp.com/attachments/252918620173238272/354946804913143808/ef6.jpg Title: Re: Inspiration thread Post by: Neon_Knight on September 10, 2017, 11:07:04 PM Well, we need the appropriate texture sets for those themes to be used. :/
What about the oa_dm5 "Mayincatec" theme? Title: Re: Inspiration thread Post by: fromhell on September 11, 2017, 03:52:41 PM Might be okay to make Nali temple-ish maps with. Remember to use it at a smaller scale *cough* 0.5 is not a good scale for Anyone's textures *cough*
but i did once do a single player campaign file full of inspiring / themey third party maps that have good flow, aesthetic and performance (in a process of trying every map, noting, eliminating, etc). It cannot be used with the oa3 ui's current form yet (OA3 doesn't even have working Sergei / Kyonshi team models) but can be seen as inspiration As for most texture production I do, it's while painting on a cube in Blender. There is a way to import a compiled bsp into blender with noesis but i'd have to flip all the uvs and correct all the texture paths by hand Title: Re: Inspiration thread Post by: Neon_Knight on September 12, 2017, 08:18:51 AM Wow! So many Threewave maps in there! It's no wonder, though. Those packs are a "must-have". The list could have included Sock's "Pyramid of the Magician" (https://lvlworld.com/review/id:1743) and "Mystic Gemini" (https://lvlworld.com/review/id:2002) maps if we're talking about maps for inspiration (not considering framerate/botplay issues).
My favourite version of Wicked is DM-CBP2-Kadath (http://guilhem.bedos.free.fr/ozone/agrandissements/a_3d_kad.htm) from UT2004. :3 And my favourite version of Blood Run is DM-UCMP-BloodRun (https://sites.google.com/site/chongleevoxels/dm-ucmp-bloodrun), also from UT2004. At least visually speaking. |
