the baseoa folder is a fun place to put them

asking when OA3 will be done won't get OA3 done.
Progress of OA3 currently occurs behind closed doors alone

I do not provide technical support either.

You need to get .pk3 files. These contain either character models, maps, or some other neat stuff.
Once you download some, put them in the BASEOA folder. Then start OpenArena and, assuming you did what you were told, the new models should appear in the model select screen in "Player options".

Again, they HAVE TO BE .pk3 files. If you get zipped files, the .pk3s are probably inside.

If you are on a server that don't have the skin, nobody else can see or feel it. If the server is pure you can't see it either as all people must have the same pk3 files loaded.

yeah, it sucks, but it's for a good reason. if people were allowed to bring their own models and skins to a server then people would start abusing it by using skins that would make their characters hard for other players to see.

Sounds like the Quake series Smiley Well, except for the hard-to-see part

Hello, is it possible to use Models from http://planetquake.gamespy.com/quake3/. There are a ton of sweet models at that site under the Quake 3 files section.

This German site (translated via Google) shows pictures of models. Scroll down to the Quake III section for skins:

There I fixed the link. Can't say what the heck happened there. It worked last night. I linked to the pages tha link to Maps, Models and MODS. I also had a question about a source for native OA models. Is there a site that has either created new models and/or converted Q3A models to OA format(thats to say if OA has its own unique model format). Some of the models I downloaded for Sonic the hedgehog and Homer Simpson look good and fight well, however some times during play in skirmish games, just stand there after an error called "weapon out of range" appears on the screen. When I see that, I have to find them and kill them when they just stand around doing nothing. Is the error associated with the models original Q3A encoding when it comes to the new weapons in OpenArena?
