Hello

OpenArena seems like good fun. However, after the opening movie ("OpenArena logo"), the game goes completely silent. When playing, there are no sounds at all. Any idea how this could be solved? I have never had any sound problems with other games with my setup.

Game version: 0.7.1
Platform: Windows

My setup:
Win XP Pro SP2
AMD Athlon 2,17 GHz 3000+
1 gb ram
Nvidia 7600GS (256 mb)
integrated soundcard: Nvidia nForce Audio

DirectX 9.0c
OpenAL 1.1

addition: I have never had any sounds in this game, so it's not like they suddenly disappeared. I've also tried changing the sound quality in game, but it has no effect.

Sound volume ingame ?
I don't know how you can get the log of events when you start OA on windows, but you may try to get it and paste it here.

I noticed that I can't get any other game working either, that requires OpenAL.

The prob seems to be that although OpenAL seems to install properly, it doesn't.

The Babylon Project and Beyond the Red Line both require OpenAL and when i try to run them, i get an error message saying i should update my OpenAL drivers.

So the prob is OpenAL.

Anyone got experience on fixing OpenAL? Smiley

EDIT: I've tried googling for this prob, but haven't found a solution.

Thanks for the reply. This would seem like something worth checking out, although the prob seems to be that OpenAL won't install properly. Cheers.

try to turn off openal and see if it will make it work.

i think it is "s_useOpenAL 0" and then snd_restart, not sure though.

Turning OpenAL off and restarting sounds did the trick. Thank you so much Smiley Problem solved.
