I fail to see the point in developing something 6 years after the original when there are no improvements.

The graphics, sound and gameplay are dire in comparison to the original quake 3.

What motivated you to do this project?

Why did you choose a concept so close to the original?

Because Quake III Arena is not Free Software?

Also compatibility is a must, so no gameplay-related changes will be made in OA. That's what mods are for.

asking when OA3 will be done won't get OA3 done.
Progress of OA3 currently occurs behind closed doors alone

I do not provide technical support either.

"it's good because it's free" doesn't really answer the questions.

I could be wrong, but rtcw was a great game that used the quake engine, that isn't a mod is it?

RTCW isn't a mod, it's a licensed Quake3-engine game developed by both id and Gray Matter.

Have you seen Freedoom or Open Quartz yet?

Are you just joking around or are you really that much of a douche?  Do you not understand the concept of the project?  It isn't setting out to create a whole new game like rtcw, it's creating resources that can be used with quake 3 to play like quake 3 without having to purchase it itself, since the engine code was released under a GPL license a while ago.

Why register just to ask something so dumb?

Hi thing

I see many benefits in creating free quake3 content:

1. most of the mods are playable without the need to buy the original q3. This is very useful when you think of LANs. You can't be sure everyone has bought the game and you can make a general release of OA with all necessary mods already included.
2. people who are working on improving the q3engine (Xreal, Evolution) can use OA to showcase their changes.
3. Mod makers can now easily create a standalone version of their mod.
