I know that we have a railgun. If I made a new sniper weapon, would you accept it? Or will it depend on how good it will be?

I think he means a new railgun model, not literally a new sniper weapon... Thus why it was posted in the 'models' section..

I was thinking the same. Like UT3's Sniper Rifle.

no multires/subsurf yet
don't even ever touch those features when making a model intended for playing in a 3d game ever

I'm not a modeler or developer, but i think it's really boxy. Right now, I would rather just use the default railmodel.... I think you should refine it quite a bit first.

I am a high school kid on a robotics team. I am learning as fast as I can, but I do not know a lot of how to do anything, really.
If you want the blend file (which is what I am working with) email me: nealturbo@gmail.com
And call me jr if you please.
Here is the next version of the sniper gun

Lol maybe!
I have the barrel/muzzle cast apart from the rest of the gun. I also tried my hand at skinning it. (uh oh)

Yes, but renaming BMP to PNG does NOT make them PNG.

I suggest taking a look at some of the weapon models from the SVN, the overall design reminds me more of Tau weapons from 40k than a sniper rifle.

When designing weapons you need to make the design work. For example the 2 scopes on your rifle, what are their purpose? are they for 2 eyes or 1? If it's for 2 eyes how does the character lean over and use them? If it's for one why are there 2?

Also I recommend turning off sub-D, it creates extra polygons that are not needed for low-poly designs.

Tell you what...I will restart the whole process. There were a coupla things that I could've changed that probably should be changed.
fromhell, do you want tga's? I thought that they couldn't be viewed over internet. I use bitmaps because they are how Paint saves them. What do you want?

I like the "mouth" of the gun, certainly looks cooler than current railgun, but the current railgun has, what I would like to call, energy chamber on it, which makes sense as it shoots a type of beam. I don't think it should look thin at the base, I think it maybe it should look strong instead of puny. And by the way, the sight on it is looking right at the top of the mouth Smiley
