Since she is one of the default classes she is high priority for me to do now

Her concept:
- will have an eye patch
- lack a hood
- have some tasteful armor (YES ARMOR, not lingerie or anything racy like that succubus down there)
- have hair
- have face
- tattoo improvised on skin probably
- Eriance drew the concept below (through PaintChat), see attachment

Her weapons:
- punch dagger? Maybe an arm mounted twin blade
- crossbow? maybe mount that on her arm too. and see 3 arrows fire rather than 1 on the model
- grenades? maybe a bomb? explosive fletchette? i'm blank on that one
- I really don't like that scarab weapon. Think I should replace it with a portable killer stake launcher/ballista thing?

I will start on the model shortly

Oh and the art direction is officially anime but under a Heretic/Hexen like dark atmosphere. In single player, this won't even be noticable. It certainly won't be bright and cutey (like XDFort would probably be). The main reason behind this, is that i'm not a fan of 1 to 3 pixel big eyes, very lacking in emotion there

Looks nice.

Great minds think alike, I guess. I was thinking the Assassin ought to have an eyepatch too.

Maybe go the simple route and have *gasp* a regular sort of dagger, give the hilt a fancy design like a spider or a snake to symbolize poison though, even though the game doesn't actually model poison damage.  Just a thought, the arm-mounted blade isn't bad, but if anything I'd rather see something like that on the paladin.

Wrist-mounted dart launcher?

I'm not sure either.  Exploding runestones seems a bit too wizard-y perhaps.  It could be one of those old style bombs with the wick that you light and all, it would be cool if it were something that made a bit more sense to be running off of mana though.

Eh.  Yes, I always hated that thing thematically at least, not the least because they gave the mesoamerican character an egypt-themed weapon (wtf?).  Are you thinking of just changing the theme of it, or function too?  Not sure about the ballista idea, it could be assassin-ish since it's like a souped-up crossbow thing, but doesn't the powered up version have this weird flight pattern and chain people up?

Something kind of like Berserk, then? *hopeful*  I'd at least like to see the paladin be that sort of hulking muscle-guy, kind of like the original Hexen's fighter I suppose, but with platemail instead of the Conan look.

I'm having an issue oddly with one of the skin colors, getting remapped to palette index 96 whenever I change color 2 (hair) for some reason. This is with H2's palette.lmp though, as my own dosen't do anything lol (I need a new one that only remaps the red and gold color ramps only for all classes)

Are you talking about a problem with hakmdl_export script,
or about the shirt/pant remapping tables (gfx/player.lmp) ?

I've looked at gfx/player.lmp (from H2Demo) and there are some
anomalies but they don't explain what you're seeing.

I need the MDL file to see what pixels the skin uses.

BTW what is the plan for Haktoria's player.lmp?

The Paladin, Assassin and Succubus all share the same mapping
tables (if I read the source correctly), so they need to use the
same colors for armor/shirt/pants [e.g. red and gold].

It's right in the SVN, /haktoria/data1/models/assassin.mdl

Yeah found the MDL.

I understand exactly how "gfx/player.lmp" works now, yet I still cannot see any problem in the
mapping tables that could make bright red shades become orange.

Anyway, when qpakman can generate player.lmp then either the issue will
go away or will be easier to track down.

FWIW your skin uses fullbright pixels (ones in the range 224-239), but they are not red so it cannot affect the hair.

FWIW 2, it's interesting that in HEXENII colormap the fullbright pixels do eventually fade to black,
just not as quickly as normal pixels.  In QUAKE they stay bright even at the darkest end.

Something about the face on the model bugs me a bit, after seeing the shot of the statue version I'd say it's probably got something to do with the eyes, but maybe the eyepatch is throwing me off.  Looking pretty good otherwise, I like the customizable hair color (once you get the errors sorted out anyways Tongue )

Compensated around the color ramps that lead to undesired changes
