Machinegun, shotgun and the grenade launcher has common elements as the light weaponry - high targeting spline, large magazine, gunback...
Machinegun is the machinegun not mini-chaingun; shotgun is alike jackhammer and GL is a bit more closer to the realistic ones.
Heavy weaponry has no gunback and likes inside turning animations - minigun bullets, mines changing, nail load-turning... Except for maybe RL - i'm not sure.
Minigun is more like fallout vindicator minigun - i think than a lot more interesting than simply 6 turning barrels.
Nailgun is shorter than minigun - i like the idea of smth like UT flak cannon mechanism.
And mines could be launched as flying saucers )
RL is quite classic )
BFG, electrogun and plasmagun are quite alike - no gunback, quite massive.
BFG is quite classic; electrogun razors are vertical and longer, to make it look more natural for the lightning strike; plasma is more massive as the OA model looks too small for this kind of effective shooting ))
Rail has roots in all three types - it deals much damage, it shoots bullets; it need energy to rail bullets (some caseless, I guess, smth like FO gauss rifle). So it is quite massive, has gunback and energy reload notifiers )))
Gauntlet is quite classic.
