One of the coolest features of Team Arena/Missionpack is the in-game team roles. Although this is mostly a bot-based feature ("Attack the base!", "Get their flag!"), I can see it being used online too.

These are the recognized roles:

What could the possible icons for OA be?

  • Attack: A sword?
  • Camp: A tent?
  • Defend: A shield?
  • Escort: Huh
  • Follow: Huh
  • Patrol: Something related to cops?
  • Retrieve: Huh

I was wondering... are those features already included in baseoa (github), or are in Missionpack only?

If any feature appeared in Team Arena, it's present in UI3.
The commands for nextTeamMember/prevTeamMember/nextOrder are there. I've added them to the Controls menu, in fact.

As for the HUD, which is where they should appear, that's another story. But you can be sure the feature is there.

I mean... is it also present in baseoa gamecode (not UI)? So, are those commands recognized or pressing those keys in-game would generate no effect or "unknown command" errors?

I know that TA weapons, runes, holdables and gametypes have been backported to the base game... But I don't know about secondary features such as character animations for "go left/right" (IIRC they were a TA feature and one of the reasons TA did not show baseq3 characters, but again, I played TA very little, so I'm not sure)...
That's why I was asking.

So that "there" meant "in the gamecode"... It looked like that "there" referred to "UI3" from the line above it...  Embarrassed

Back to the topic:
Maybe for "escort" and "follow", simply two dots each, in one case placed horizontally and in the other vertically? As to mean in one case you are going side-by-side with somebody and in the other you follow him... (although I don't know what the game means with "escort" exactly).

Maybe for retrive, a sort of "turn back arrow"?  Uhm... maybe it may risk to be seen as "come back to defend the base"?
