Will Quake3 mods work for Open Arena, such as if I were to install True Combat 1.2 It would be playable but only in protocal 71, or would I need the source code to make some minor modification to be compatible. Or major modifications C++ Advance programer complete overhaul.

I found the problem, if your sound does not work bring down the console ~
then type:
\snd_restart

Evidence of TC working with OA.

I don't want to disturb my OA install. If I added this, would it appear in the mods section, and be switch on and offable? Or would it be preferable to have a seperate OA install just for this mod?

I'm very protective of my OA setup ;-)

Mods are kept in separate folders, and they are indeed switchable on/off without problem.

If you have autodownload on, then files which are eventually downloaded from that mod will be kept in "baseoa" directory (main OA dir), not in the mod's one. That doesn't happen often, and most files will be kept separated. Your player configuration file is copied from one mod to another, so changing one doesn't change the other mod.

You look new Cheesy See my guide for new players (just out).

Answer to your question is: it's q3config.cfg, located in %APPDATA%\OpenArena\baseoa.

I got True Combat working, but the sound does not work, I think it might be a config issue, so then I must create a default autoexec.cfg that will enable sound, I am sure you guys have run into this before and have a solution, thankyou.
Once I get it running, I will post it for download as I am sure you will all love this mod and I will run a professionally hosted server for it, some Quake3 crap was left behind, such as bunkbuster options, and the field to enter your CDKEY.

There was a topic about this, with a download link on ModDB. Check that one out, because that worked for me without sound issues and CD key check.

I am at a dead end, True Combat wont work on here with sound, also, there are other aspects of the game that dont work, such as bandaging, weapon damage is off.

Several years back I made a Stargate level with Stargate ring platform transporters,  check out the stuff inGAME and if you would like it I will need to pull the Radiant build off and old busted computer, but for now the ring platform transporter prefabs are within the ringscft10.pk3 in both .xmap and .map formats.
Tell me what you think about the map.
download:

click below to see video of level, it works in OA

also, I tooka screen shot, where would the file be?

I have'nt any problem with True Combat. It's always works for me "out of the box" since the 0.7.? OA version. Downloading from a server or installing it directly in opeanarena directory is working well on the different XP-PC I test.

I NEVER have CD key or sound problems. The only weird thing is some missing texture in a very few map.(not a big problem, and be solve with OA 0.9.0 GPLed texture)

Sometime I put up a personnal server wich work quite well.

On windows-XP when I download from a truecombat server the . pk3 goes :
C:\Documents and Settings\BCH32\Application Data\OpenArena\truecombat\

If I install the mod I put it in :
C:\Program Files\openarena\truecombat\

Windows: %APPDATA%\OpenArena\baseoa\screenshots (example: c:\Documents and Settings\<username>\Application Data\OpenArena...)
Linux and the like: ~/.openarena/baseoa/screenshots
Mac: ~/Library/Application Support/OpenArena/baseoa/screenshots

The only weird thing is some missing texture in a very few map.

That's because TC wasn't made standalone, it requires some original Q3 textures, which will only come with OA 0.9.0.

You don't have to modify anything, OpenArena has a goal of 100% compatibility with Q3 mods. Some mods work less, some work perfectly. The link I gave works for me, I have sound, I can load maps, summon bots and shoot them.

Try turning off OpenAL, maybe it helps.

But a more defined bug report would be more helpful (What does the console says?)

For the sound problem, maybe could it be a problem similar to this one?

In general, for the mods  I hope you will use your experieces to expand the pages DO NOT LINK[/b]) h t t p s : / / openarena . wikia . com/wiki/Mods]Mods and DO NOT LINK[/b]) h t t p s : / / openarena . wikia . com/wiki/ModCompat]ModCompat (and relative sub-pages) on the Wiki site... Same thing for troubleshooting in general. Thank you! :-)

Has anyone been able to get True Combat to run fully as it did in Quake3 yet, if so please respond.

Do not respond if:
1 it is kinda working, bandageing wounds dont work or limping when shot in the legs working

It is now giving me high blood pressure and pissing me off, just need a single .zip file to download that has already been modified specifically for OA

If we can get this working, I will host a professionally central game server with my own money, and a website to download the OA True Combat from, as well as a .pk3 download mirror for auto mod installing, so that the rest of the OA community can just simply connect to the server and auto install/download the mod trouble free and just start playing.
