When running this program on Windows Vista please run it in compatibility mode for Windows XP SP2! It will run 1000x more stable! To do this just right click then hit properties, then hit the compatibility tab and choose Windows Xp Sp2 then hit apply. For some reason it is really unstable when run natively. Also Vista wireless internet users that have the Vista  60 second lag issue you should download this nifty program.http://www.martin-majowski.de/wlanoptimizer/

I also had a bad OpenAL installation so  it couldnt run natively but I fixed that

Another tid bit I might add for Vista users and anyone runnng a AMD dual core cpu and Nvidia 169.xx forceware drivers.

If you are getting any stuttering or erratic frame rates in OpenArena or Quake3.

Disable the Threaded Optimization feature in the Nvidia Control Panel.

After several days and much Hair pulling I am now a happy camper.
