I noticed there aren't any servers that run mods on them. So...sometime when I am capable, I will be running mods on my server. Since there aren't a lot of online OA players...yet...I guess I'll just have people request mods to run on my server as of now...yeah...
So, mods that I have:
Urban Terror (might need updating)
Reaction Quake 3
Bid for Power
Jailbreak: Prisoner of War
Got a mod to suggest? Post it here, and I'll go see if I can get it up.

Alternate Fire is a good small one. ExcessivePlus can work too.

Ok, I'll go look for those mods tomorrow, maybe get my server up while I'm doing homework or something...yeah...

I would love to get some quake team fortress going...I tried it out on single player and it seemed to work well. It is a cooperative game with character classes that can be a hell of a lot of fun due to the strategy involved. It is referred to as "qf3"

Tried a bit of Alternate Fire, pretty fun. Anyhow, I've started the server w/ alternate fire. Total of 8 people can join.

I also would very much enjoy playing Q3F (Quake 3 Fortress) on OpenArena, since ETF doesn't have a Mac port and I don't own Quake III, so that leaves me with no other way to play Fortress - unfortunately, my Mac doesn't want to run the server for some reason... Someone else will have to set it up.

...I don't know about Quake 3 Fortress...I remember trying it on an earlier version of 00.4.1...I think. I don't think it worked properly...well, I don't really remember it working correctly. I'll take a look at it anyways...see if I can get it on my server sometime...

You need all the releases together, 2.0 through 2.3, to make it work - make sure you don't just get 2.3.
If I try to start a Q3F server, it crashes before finishing loading after what looks like a successful loading of shaders with "Sys_Error: Requested feature was omitted at compile time" but no description of what feature it's talking about.

I tried out the AlternateFire MOD as well yesterday and it was great. Unfortunatly no one else seemed interested in playing, so I played against the BOT for a couple maps. I wonder if OpenArena is ready for MODs? Casual gamers arn't going to download MODS and go through all the work involved IMO. Still though it's a good idea to put some variety out there. I'll be playin the MODs now and then. |

At 0.6.0, OA still can't play every mod. Most of the problems is missing model and map textures, and in some cases, missing player models.

So far my favorite mods are Afterwards and the BFG10k mods. Granted I'd like afterwards to have a bit more avalible than simply shooting(because I suck at deathmatching), but hey...its a good start to get me what i like in a game.
And as for BFG10k, duh...everyone's running around with frekken huge overpowered guns blowing eachother and themselves up. Fun times.
