I'm working on a totally redesigned SP campaign which includes retexturizations of suction and q3dm6ish; (I'm retexturizing this map based on my work at am_galmevish) adaptations of oasago2, ctf_gate1 and oa_spirit3 to be included in the SP; new bots (6 of all of the bots are bosses, and I'm thinking on a Final Boss to fight in q3dm6ish) and whole new thematic tiers which resembles a story. With some luck, tomorrow I'll be launching the first version of it.

My question is: what needs Suction to be included again in OpenArena?

I stopped including it because the original mapper was a jerk and used it as a point of 'oa will take anything shitty, thats why i made suction to prove that' etc etc. Since it's a vehicle for insult i've permanently removed suction from OA. It sucked, anyhow (very, VERY boring and linear design)

Unbalanced too, one team got a plasma gun in their base, the other a shotgun (IIRC).

Oh, I will delete it then. :/

My idea is to know how to improve that map because it was part of the plan for my SP campaign, but now I've had to find a (space) replacement for it. U_U

There's an untextured GPL'd rpgdm map in the repository that never made it into any OA release. Maybe it could use some love. RPG's site is down though so it's lucky it even exists in the svn Cheesy

You're talking about void4, a map that is in the attic folder in the SVN?

No. Void maps are not RPG maps. RPG maps tend to start with RPG in the name.

If I find this rpg map I might texture it up.

.... But turns out it doesn't open in GtkRadiant.

¿RPG3DM1?
Anyways, I have already found a solution for it.

I've found and converted that map to work with GTKR 1.5, but... there's a lot of leaks there, that rockous zone is a pain in the ass. -.-

Hope it works...

im confused.  isnt that map supposed to be RPG?  correct me if im wrong but, i thought rpg ment you had a set of goals and triggers to allow the world or npc's to give you yet another quest/goal.  The original creator sure liked player clips.  Arm, i can help you fix that map, but, first it kinda needs a goal.  Its too large for a reg map.  Sucker is bigger then "dredworks", or some of those crazy large 3 wave maps.  Upto you guys, Im down for whatever.

What map you're talking about, Mike? oa_rpg3dm1 or suction?
Suction has been permanently banned, so it can't be fixed nor be included, although instead of a CTF map could have been a DM one.

Think in that map as a common DM map, I've seen that architecture, and it rules for that, just like oa-rpg3dm2. (Which is one of my fav DM maps of OA)

Excuse me if this thread is a bit stale....

That conversion must have messed something up, because the original .map file compiles OK without any leaks.

Anyone know what the map is supposed to look like?  I assume it's some kind of tech base embedded in a mountain, but there are too many missing textures to get a good idea of the map. I bet it looked very cool originally.

Leaks show basically at the mountain itself.

This is, I guess, the original map for Q3A: http://lvlworld.com/t.php/A+Genius+Trapped+in+an+Idiot%27s+Mind

Excuse me if this thread is a bit stale....
It happens to me also. Tongue
