Here is draft #1 of oa_lun3dm2 which is a retextured version of Lunaran's GPL'd map LUN3DM2.  Lunaran has not released his textures so I have made replacements where needed.

The biggest problem is the room with the big curved glass ceiling, which is supposed to have a nice blue fog behind it.  The fog was messing up big time and I don't know how to fix it.

Other changes:
- removed the secret room (the easter egg).
- moved the rocket launcher to the ground floor so the bots could get it, and the floating spot where it was now has the rail gun, and a couple other weapons were moved.  Hence ammo placement may need tweaking.
- there are no sounds (hums etc), and that's OK by me.

Note: no levelshot or arena file yet.

P.S. damn SpeedyShare put spaces in the filename (they were underscores).  Replace the spaces with underscores '_' after downloading or it probably won't work.

It has a very q1 feel, reminds me of the old EFDM Maelstrom map. I kept wondering why there wasn't a secret room in it (sorry, I DLed before reading your post).

All in all I enjoyed it, but with the cramped space someone could dominate with the rocket.

Very very nice map, blue theme is very nice too. Much fun to play on, nice textures also. Only problem I have with it is that some of the little wall lights (Like the blue ones around the curve ramp) aren't fitted to the area of the light.

You say there was a glass ceiling, I would make sure that the glass brush or cap is using (shift+s in gtkradiant) Cap instead of Natural textures, cycling through the cap button until it looks unstretched. If that wasn't the problem, make sure that the fog brush isn't overlapping on the same spot as the glass. Just my theories based off of no information.

Still, very nice map and textures, this one better go into the next oa release.

I really like this map! I'd actually never played it before so it was all new to me. I had no problems at all with the weapon placement (I thought it was good), but I can't make any comparisons to how it used to be. The textures really suit it too. I think it looks very stylish.

The only problem I noticed was with the bots. They get stuck in a rut at the teleporter where the rocket launcher is. Sometimes they will just keep going through it over and over again.

Thanks everybody for the comments.

Yeah I need to fix textures the little lights.  Plus as I play it again, I'm not keen on the yellow lights, they were not in the original and seem out of place now.

For the curved fog ceiling, if I can't fix it then I'll probably just use a sky behind it, the blue sky from oa_rpg3dm2 should look OK.

I agree that this map is a bit cramped, most rooms are too small to sustain interesting battles.  Perhaps most suited as 1v1 map.

Bots often behave stupidly with two-way teleporters, I've seen them do the same thing on Agressor and other maps, and here it's quite bad.  I'll think about bot-clipping one of the teleporters (e.g. top one, as bots could still fall down if they wanted).

NeonKnight, I'm not sure you are aware of this, but the original lun3dm2 was under the GPL3 license, hence oa_lun3dm2 is too, and therefore it cannot be included into OA because everything in OA must be GPL2 compatible.

I know about that. Sad. Sad

But that doesn't mean that the map should be discontinued. Not every map in this section will neccesarily end in OA, also, there may be admins who want it in their servers's rotation.

Who knows...
