Hi all,

Dunno if this should be in here or  the technical forum, feel free to move it if you feel it should be somewhere else....

I'm having a problem with playing botmatches in OA 0.81 Windows, where whilst playing I will get seemingly random stutters whilst playing sometimes when firing weapons, sometimes just when running about. When I say stutters it's almost like online lag but only lasts for 0.5 to 1.0 seconds.

I am using the UIE mod as I find it easier to setup botmatch scurmishes in that as you can set random maps, bot skill etc.

I think my system should be up to playing OA, as I have an Athlon 64 dual core 3GHz, 2G of memory, Windows XP pro, Nvidia 8800GT.

The odd thing is I don't seem to experience this when playing online, that seems reasonably smooth.

Anyone have any clues as to what might be up ?

Hi, maybe this is because when you play online, the IA of bots is dealt by the server and not your computer...

I can also say I had some weird issues in LAN with 0.8.1, depending on maps we played it was very choppy.

Do you have some Nvidia option with Dual Screen on ?

I never had problems here.. Only when running on 270fps or more it continuously lags, but that must be either the internet connection or the server. On LAN I have no problems.

Do you get these problems on all maps? As far as I know some maps (mine included) need improvements on botplay. Do you get this issue on aggressor too?

How many bots?  Running heaps of them can cause an issue like that, when they all decide to "think" at the same time.

26 bots doesn't lag for me, and when trying 27 it crashes.. though that can be different for someone else

Yeah I have that problem in Q3, which runs at 400+ fps in some maps wish there was a way to limit the framrate.... will google that Smiley

XXX = number, a good number is 125. Commonly going above 125 will start to cause lag during online games...

I like to limit com_maxfps to my own refreshrate. It's consistently smooth then.

I like to limit com_maxfps to my own refreshrate. It's consistently smooth then.
You can't jump the wall in ps37ctf then, only 125 or 333 do that (166 and 200 works for some ppl too, but not for me)

Guys why don't you get it? pmove_fixed 1 solves that problem and this cvar exists for AGES. Why is it defaulted to 0 on vanilla OA? People complain about not having 125fps although they would jump same distance on 45fps.

It is not 0 anymore but does have some problems. Sounds might be skipped if the frame they are in is skipped. Changed to 1 in furture versions simply because framerate dependent physics is bad.
