Hey,

why can't you see if someone uses zoom when you replay a demo or spectate?

-special reason for this, so is it deliberately disabled?
-if not, should we fix it?
-if so (if should be fixed), is it gonna be fixed?
-if not (not on the schedule), is it a hard job then or for what other reason is it not?

thanks Smiley

When you spectate you will not get the information because it is not transfered over the network. Solving this is quite hard because the state of zoom is not part of the playerstate.

For demoes it might be easier but it would likely break protocol (and not just because the filename changes).

The effect can be emulated by changing fov and mouse speed (there are lots of scripts). +zoom is just an easier way to do it.

Related to this. How do people make those wonderful videos with 3rd person shots and camera movements ala Matrix?

Here is the only method i know of.

There is a mod called Q3mme (Quake 3 moviemaker's edition) Which allows you to do all those angles and stuff. Gerbil is the one who showed it to me and used it.

Heres the site:
http://q3mme.proboards.com/index.cgi

It does take a little work to get it working with OA. But luckily that has already been answered in a forum.

Here is a forum link to get it working with OA.

Okay, so there is not much chance that it is gonna be fixed?

Ah, thanks, "...". Actually I probably read that topic on its day, but had no idea what the mod was for. It seems a bit of work, but the results are really cool. I guess I have to try.
