check server listing for new custom maps DM server. "CUST97-ciggaweed-No bitchassness". I added 97 maps to that rotation. Make sure you set downloads on. Also, I dont have an http redirect for the downloads yet, so the downloads of maps you dont have will be slow. I suggest you find the map_pack.zip(547Meg) file and unpack to your baseoa before connecting.

grab that for maps. Note, that's not my site, so if someone can mirror that, please do.

I downloaded the map pack. I looked just to see what it contained. It does have some great DM and CTF maps. But there is a defrag map in there(0ups_beta2a) (i haven't looked at all the maps yet.) Just want to let you in case you didn't know.

Thanks for the info. I havent gone through all the maps myself yet. And I had to remove a few maps already(they would cause the server to hang), so wrackdm17 and dm6ish are in the rotation for the maps I have removed.

Note, there still are some issues which I have been trying to track down, and Im hoping in the next few days I have everything working properly.

And If you want some maps added into the rotation, shoot me a link.

I think Ciggaweed runs 0.8.1 still, whereas the other big-name FFA (Digichalk) is up to 0.8.5

At least, last I was on Ciggaweed the physics etc. were very much 0.8.1. I remember before the server was moved how my ping would hover in the low 20s. Smiley

Anyway, cool - I'll get that map pack and some hard drive space, preferably the latter first, then head over to the new custom map server as soon as I can!

It seems to be having some problems at the end of some maps, like freezing for a bit, then restarts the same map.

Voting is now enabled on the custom maps server. Also added http download in server config(thanks to the NIN guys for hosting!).

I haven't tried 0.8.5 yet - can 0.8.5 clients play on a 0.8.1 server?

Thanks for the info. I guess I'll wait on the 0.8.5 upgrade for a while longer.

Also, if anyone has any maps they want me to add on the custom maps server, shoot me links to the maps and I'll add.

And if you know which maps hang/restart, let me know so I can remove.

It's not a good idea since OA081 has many old bugs which were almost fixed in OA085 ... and OA085 has many other improvements also for admins and also Its code quality is better causing less problems than Oa081 while running.

I'd stay with 081, don't notice much bugs in it and as far as i know 085 servers usually run only bots (rofl insta  was always pretty popular till the update for example)

Admins have a long tradition in being reluctant to updates, and OA has a long tradition in making releases which had improvements but also new issues which don't please people. Community split as always, maybe we should put more attention to these little details when releasing, but admin and players should understand they won't always help in staying to older versions (I fear they put too much accent on these regressions, without considering what has been fixed and what has improved), and would benefit from better understanding how an opensource project works.

Sure,  people are waiting for their favourite cheats , bots_to_aim and scripts to be ported to OA085 ...

I don't get what you want to say with that.
I was talking bots like sarge or ayumi not aimbots, though even if you misunderstood that it wouldn't be logic what u said.

No no ... I wanted to mean exactly that ...

people are waiting for their favourite cheats to be ported to OA085 and that's why most of the servers are empty running in-game bots .

Which part my thought is not clear ?

Not that many people cheat, maybe one every few days.. Not a number to say in percentages, so how could that be the cause of it?
Or do you include the physics@85fps and black names and such?

Are you sure ? ... Actually they are not so few indeed.

OA085 has pmove_float enabled by default so people can use com_maxfps 85 or 125 or 333 or 3000 or 999999999999999999999 ..... they will jump always for the same distance.

I haven't seen one since februari or something, so it can't really be more than like two a week (of course im not on all servers, but I'm on enough and I don't see much so I guess it's not much)

That wasn't my question Wink It was about the idea if you included those bugs.
