need help with Bid for Power

EDIT: After hunting around for a bit more here and on google, I finally got bots working correctly.

Now the only problem I have is the broken player settings screen.

It starts me out with this character by default and will not let me change it.

Has/does anyone else have this problem or know how to fix it?

I thought that in the latest OpenArena public release the bots worked fine already.  I can play on multiple maps that have bot support and fight them just fine with no errors in the console or anything.   Even Quake 3 Rally's bot supported maps work fine, even if the driver A.I is nothing short of simply stupid (I think they were like that anyhow).

I've got Bid for Power myself (and to boot I have a DBZ character pack for it) and I don't have any problem.  Check over what you did and see if you removed something you shouldn't have.  Worse comes the worse, just reinstall BFP.
