Hi guys

I'm a journalist doing the games editorial for redbull.co.uk (You can check it out here, it's far more interesting than that sounds, or so I like to think anyway: http://www.redbull.co.uk/cs/Satellite/en_UK/Gaming/001243060671697 ). I'd love to cover the Open Arena project on it -I know all of you are involved in some way but who would be the best person to talk to for an interview?

Cheers!

Hi, Ben.
I suppose you should talk to Fromhell, the project leader.

No, I'm going to have to reject the interview. Sorry.

Personal reclusivity doesn't go well with public relations.

I don't even think it's worth an interview article as that would give it far too much credit for what it is (a community-based media project for open-sourced code of an existing game).  It would just distract from production and make me even more paranoid, which is something I do not need right now

I hope you understand my troubles, and thanks

asking when OA3 will be done won't get OA3 done.
Progress of OA3 currently occurs behind closed doors alone

I do not provide technical support either.

Fromhell, I fear "reclusivity" isn't a real word....

It looks somehow a "shame" to do not use this opportunity to bring some focus on the game (that may attract some more players, and potentially some new developers -e.g. we need more md3 model artists, texture and sound artists...-)... but anyway your privacy is important, too.

What if, instead of a real "interview", he may write an article by his own, asking here some specific questions about the game, that community members may answer to? E.g. we may tell him that the next step will be the "community map pack" that will be released in few months.

Promotion is one of the weak points of the project...

He asked for the best person to talk to.
Maybe Gig could be an option?
He always acts in the spirit of oa as far as i can see and he is obviously part of it.

I just try to help in the ways I can (testing, pointing out bugs, suggesting ideas, updating the wiki)... but I'm not a real developer. The only file created by me you can find in OA 0.8.8 is the benchmark demo. People such as Sago007 or Neon_Knight are more deeply involved in what OA actually is. I wasn't here before 0.8.1/0.8.5 times (I discovered the game a little time before 0.8.5 release, IIRC).

I've began to get involved with 0.8.1, and came around 0.8.0, so I'm in the same situation as you in this regard, Gig.

I believe Gig should do the interview as he sees it as the same opportunity as most of us do. He asked for the best person to talk to, so maybe we should do a vote on who we think is most fitting?

Great chance to bring new guys

Great chance to bring new developers

It's not like people come to the forum all the time and ask for interviews on OA... Why not use this time wisely?

Gig has a deep understanding of the game (made most of the wiki) and is very involved in the project.

I also think Gig can do the interview, if an interview is still possible.
