As some of you may be aware, we have opened a page on the OA wiki regarding third party map compatibility. Like the "ModCompat" pages Gig did, but oriented to maps. Tongue

(DO NOT LINK) h t t p s : / / openarena . wikia . com/wiki/Map_compatibility

This thread exists for reports on missing stuff on maps, either sounds or textures, whether they appear on the list or not. The Wiki will be updated as reports start appearing.

Now we have another reason to care for this: I have contacted Tig, admin of LvL. Some time ago, I guess after the redesign of LvL, he asked fromhell for a list of OA-compatible maps in the LvL forums. Now that we have that part covered with the linked Wiki page, he's going to use that list to mark the OA-compatible maps on the site. Here's his answer:

That is list a great help. Personally, I think it could be a lot
clearer. As a suggestion, something like a "tick" on the left of the map
name if there are no issues.

Anyway, I'll add the tags over the next few days for the maps without
any issues.

There's a lot of entries to cover. Maybe I'll take that work until I return to my home next Monday.

Well, it's now official: LvL has support for Q3 maps compatible with OA.

I've started adding the "OpenArena" tag to supported maps. You can see the current state here: http://lvlworld.com/searchadvanceresult/OpenArena
If anyone else wants to help out, this is what you need to do:
1) Find a map from here: (DO NOT LINK) h t t p s : / / openarena . wikia . com/wiki/Map_compatibility which has a "green background"
2) Find the listing for the map here: http://lvlworld.com/search on ..::LvL (and be logged in). You can short cut that link by using the "file name" for the map in the URL. For example, a search for zip file "tig_den.zip" would be the URL http://lvlworld.com/search/tig_den
3) In the "Overview" section for the map, hit the small "Edit details" link (you will need some reputation to see the link).
4) Click the "OpenArena" tag in the "Game type" section.
That is it.
Once a few more maps are have the OpenArena tag, I'll add a "browse" option for them (when I get the time).

More news from LvL: now there's an OpenArena search function. It's hidden by now, but can be accessed in this link: http://lvlworld.com/openarena
