Pak6-Misc.pk3

I notice there is a popular server that everytime I try and join attempts to download this file. Unfortunately it seems to be so slow that it will take 2+ hours to get like a 15 MB file.

I'm a noob so I don't know how to find out where I get these files so can anyone point me in the direction of a faster source.

I also get an "invalid game folder" error for another relatively popular server how do I fix that?

tell the server admin to update to 0.7 and keep fan out of rotation.

Yeah, you are probably trying to connect to a server with a 0.7 version, while that server hosts @ 0.6 version. Its why it tries to download that pak6. My advice is dont download that file, there are a number of 0.7 servers already with people, and later on I think every server will switch to the newer version.

I try to figure out when i get 'invalid game folder', 'pak6-misc.pk3' and when problem with ui.qvm file. Actually i was able to connect once with oa0.6 to server that has oa0.6 in the name. I'm using Debian.

Ask the K-play admin/s to update their servers to 0.7 and you shouldn't have this problem.

Also you should only be using the svn if you wish to help test/develop 0.8 (though it is very early in the dev cycle, and we're all being lazy) as you will not be able to join any pure server while playing it.

If this is the case then using version 0.6 should solve it right but it doesn't seem to.

Clear the user's application directory of any extraneous paks.  On *nix systems this is in ~/.openarena on windows it is in the Documents and Settings\x\Application Data\OpenArena\baseoa\ folder.

Thanks mate but How do I know which paks are extraneous?


What am I missing here, it tries to download this file everytime I try and connect to these servers so why isn't it as simple as just downloading the file?

pak6-misc.pk3.tmp is extraneous and can be safely deleted   then just be careful which servers you join.

Does this help me join these servers that's what I really want, they're the most populated when I go log on and and have pretty low lag for me so obviosuly I'd like to join and while I'm grateful for your help it doesn't seem like a solution.



Is there no way I can join these servers, why is that?
This seems kinda nuts I thought all I needed was Pak6-misc.pk3, perhaps a few other files that people would point me to a good location to get them and maybe a simple solution for the invalid game folder error.
