Hello OpenArena players,

First off, I just wanted to say how much I love this game. I have been having a lot of fun with it and appreciate all the hard work that has been put into it. I love all the maps, player models, and sounds. Smiley This is a real treat to play, especially upgrading to 0.7.0.

Anyway, I don't play too much online, I usually play the bots offline because I have internet connection problems, so I have a few suggestions in regards to offline play.

+1 Can the matches versus the bots in offline mode have a greater variety of enemies? It seems like the first two tiers are just Major, Gargoyle, and Kyonshi. Since I play offline a lot, it would be nice to play against a wider variety of characters, instead of always against Gargoyle. Tongue There's so many cool models in 0.7.0 that it's a shame to always fight the same ones in offline mode.

+2 As you already obviously know the Fan map crashes, so I'm temporarily stuck on the 2nd tier until there's a fix. Tongue (I'm playing skirmishes in the meantime, but I feel more motivated to play with the tier system)

+3 Lastly, I like how there's different OpenArena Logos on the map picture after you've completed it -- like there's a red OpenArena Logo for the first 4 difficulties, and a gold OpenArena Logo for the NIGHTMARE difficulty. Could it be possible to have different logos for each difficulty? It kinda gives me something to work towards (motivation, replayability) and as I get better I try to complete the levels at higher difficulties.

Anyway, thanks again for the great program and for reading this far. Smiley Great job and excellent work!

Hi.
1. True indeed (yeah like the Sound Providers album, great stuff by the way), the bot listening should be revised, especially since the first level is supposed to be more "training" than what it is for now (remember the 1st level of Q3A ?)... I think it should be fixed in the next verion.

2. If you ever plan to talk about that Fan again, whisper it ^^ (that was like a Tsunami of complains when 0.7 has been released) still, there are a few ways to proceed anyway :
Level completed hack
1 kill hack
(I've heard about both the patch option and the "gonna be fixed in next version" -- so I don't know but it shouldn't be a problem with one of the two tips above if you only play offline)

3. Good point (I wonder if there's any check list anywhere about that kind of improvements). I may see what I could do about it.

That was fixed 3 minutes after the paks were zipped.

When leileilol releases the patch you won't have this problem.  I don't know what the hold up is, the maps that had bugs have been fixed and void4 just needs the lightmap tga's included in the /map/void4 directory to appear without "broken" textures.

It won't matter as 0.8 may do away with the baseoa menu.

I don't know where the suggestion thread is, if there's one, so I'll post here. I could make some suggestions, but not only offline.

* What about the recration of the tier system of Q3A? 4 new enemies for 4 new maps, and the 4th. map is a fight against some boss.

I mean, something like this:
- Tier (Step) 0: Beginning
-- Tanisha (Test match, like Q3A's Tier 0 against Crash)
- Tier (Step) 1: Learning
-- Tony, Liz, Sergei, Jenna, Kyonshi (4th. match, 1on1 against him)
- Tier (Step) 2: Spirit
-- Sarge, Major, Angelyss, Penguin, Gargoyle (4th. match, 1on1 against her)
- Tier (Step) 3: Strong Soul
-- Ayumi, Skelebot, Grunt, Beret, Merman (4th. match, 1on1 against him)
- Tier (Step) 4: Last Entrance
-- Assassin, Grism, Nekoyss, Rai, Arachna (4th. match, 1on1 against her)
- Tier (Step) 5: Eternity
- Final match against Timaster, the final boss. (I'll explain him below, don't worry Tongue)

* New character: Timaster (for Time Master, if you want to change the name I'm not against it) would be a Nostradamus-based character, (at least in his appearance, and his skin/model could be copied/inspired/based in Kyonshi -and a bit bigger-) which could be a Time Master of the Universe, or something like that, and will be the final boss of the game. He should be as dangerous as Xaero was (or more) on Q3A.

remember how the tiers had concept? one tier- gothic atmosphere (map design), one- techno, another one - air maps. also smth to look for =)
