I am playing on a Windows machine.

I have an NVIDIA fx5200. This should be more then enough. It has 128 megs of ram.

I am getting severe lagging in the menus. I have the game set to the fastest settings.
I have a amd Sempron processor, and I have a 1gig of ram.

I am wondering is there is something in game or else where that I can try? UT2004 seems ok on my system so this should be as well.

Thanks in advance.

The lag is just in the menus?  No where else?

I also have some freezing, but just in the middle of the battle, when everybody is shooting in me! :-(
It sucks because I feel that I can't answer the fire. :-(

My hardware is an AMD Sempron LE-1100, at 1.9Gz, 512Mb of RAM, and an ATI Radeon X1200 with 128Mb.
Is this enough? I am planning to buy more 512Mb of RAM tomorrow...

I'd suggest updating your graphics drivers.

And if all fails stop downloading all the pr0n. That should speed your machine up. Also do a virus scan & defrag the harddrive. You'd also want to do a spybot scan too.

HAHAHAHA
Yes, I do download p0rn sometimes, but not when I am trying to kill someone!
(In openarena, just to be clear...)

And also I use Ubuntu 7.10, so I don't have virus problems...

AND I am using the ATI driver...
Do you think that my hardware should be enough to play openarena?

Your memory is alittle suspect. I'd upgrade it to at least 1gig. I think everything else is fine. You should also take these into account:
 1. how many people are playing at once (the more people, the more lag)
 2. the network setting should match your internet connection (check your setup)
 3. how high is your ping

These things affect your gameplay.

Guys (or girls), thanks for you attention! I've just bought more 512Mb of RAM, giving me 1Gb and it's now Dual Channel!!!
AND the best is that the above problems are now PAST!!! The game is just PERFECT!!!!

Hope we see each other in the multiplayer!
